The Ministry of the Solicitor General, Office of the Fire Marshal, seeks an individual to provide project leadership, operational implementation, coordination and support in the development, implementation and ongoing support and monitoring of large-scale technology-based tools and resources for fire services in Ontario.

About the job

• Coordinate stakeholder consultation, conduct research and analysis, develop content and support resources, coordinate project communications and risk management planning, and coordinate technical support resources
• Provide knowledgeable support and advice to internal and external clients including coaching/mentoring, tutorial materials and guidance, problem solving, troubleshooting, and system quality monitoring and continuous improvement
• Support projects and initiatives in Field and Advisory Services

What you bring to the team

Mandatory requirements

• You must have a valid class 'G' driver's licence or equivalent, as recognized by the Province of Ontario. The offer of employment is conditional upon the successful candidate providing proof that they have a valid driver's licence upon being hired.
• You must possess oral and written French language skills at the advanced-plus level. Your proficiency level will be confirmed before hire.

Fire Safety Knowledge

• You have knowledge of public fire safety theories, techniques, methods, and practices as well as legislation and regulations related to firefighting, fire safety, protection, and prevention
• You understand fire sciences, behavior, techniques of suppression, building construction, post fire evaluation audit, and fire inspection methods/techniques
• You have an understanding of municipal fire protection service delivery and federal, provincial, and municipal roles/functions

Communication (oral and written), Leadership, and Interpersonal Skills

• You are able to work effectively with officials, maintain effective relationships among staff and program stakeholders, and provide guidance to staff
• You can develop recommendations and mediate disputes
• You are able to promote and disseminate program and fire safety information

Demonstrated Research, Analytical, and Evaluative Skills

• You have interpretive skills to assess complex information and prepare reports
• You can develop, deliver, and evaluate Office of the Fire Marshal programs
• You are able to research and develop policy and guidelines and advise on the delivery of effective fire protection services

Project Management, Organizational, and Coordination Skills

• You can coordinate and support the development and implementation of projects and programs
• You can manage time and organize work as well as record and file information

Computer Skills

• You are proficient with computer software systems to manage and evaluate data, create presentation/course material, and prepare reports
• You can use spreadsheets, word-processing, and other software
