Would you like to apply your administrative skills and knowledge in support of public safety and Ontario's justice system? Are you a meticulous, highly organized, diligent individual who can manage high volumes of work and perform to exacting standards? Are you a positive, resilient individual who is at ease in a rapidly and continually evolving work environment? If so, consider this exciting opportunity to join the team at the Centre of Forensic Sciences (CFS) as an Administrative Assistant or as a Forensic Analyst.
The CFS provides forensic testing services for criminal and non-criminal investigations in the province of Ontario. It operates independently of, but in partnership with, police, prosecutors, and other stakeholders to produce objective, unbiased test results and opinions of importance to the justice system.
Given the importance of these roles, the CFS is piloting a progressive recruitment process. Candidates will be expected to participate in a series of virtual and in-person presentations/assessments during the week of April 17th. This will ensure that you know what to expect from the CFS and the CFS finds the best talent for these positions.

Forensic Analyst (Job ID 194823) - 61802 Forensic Analyst 2 - $1088.73 - $1294.48 Per weekThe role of a Forensic Analyst at the CFS is largely administrative in nature, requiring exceptional attention to detail and customer service skills. While we are looking to attract people who are comfortable handling potentially biohazardous materials a background in science is not a prerequisite for this position. Forensic Analysts play a vital role in receiving, processing, and returning evidence that has been submitted to the CFS pursuant to the investigation of crimes against property and person and to support the Ontario Coroner's system. This work includes discussing submissions with investigators and providing clear, accurate and timely advice. Forensic Analysts operate at the point-of-entry for all downstream forensic examinations, and they are responsible for establishing the initial chain-of-custody of evidence and items received. Maintaining the integrity of evidence upon receipt is of utmost importance and as such we are seeking people who are highly disciplined when working in a busy environment, who thrive doing repetitive work within an accredited and regulated workplace, and who value supporting the administration of justice and public safety programs in Ontario. In return successful candidates will benefit from working at the state-of-the-art Forensic Services and Coroners Complex (FSCC)
Centre of Forensic Sciences in North York, Toronto, within a supportive and innovative organization of over 300 staff, with opportunities to develop personally and professionally over the course of a fulfilling career providing critical public services.
Administrative Assistant (Job ID 194821) Office Administration 08 - $25.02 - $29.09 Per HourAdministrative Assistants play a pivotal role responding to and redirecting communications and correspondences received at the laboratory from police officers, Coroners and crown attorneys, managing subpoenas, tracking incoming / outgoing mail and evidence containers, sending and tracking confidential materials such as case reports and disclosure packages, and greeting visitors. They provide critical internal supports to CFS staff and managers, assisting with human resource functions, recruitments, organizing meetings and events and assisting with a variety of interoffice tasks. Administrative Assistants work as a team whose functions spread across the entire CFS, providing support, backup and assistance to each other often in different areas of laboratory operations. Like all other personnel within the CFS, Administrative Assistants work in an accredited and regulated environment where adherence to procedures and a commitment to the role are paramount, and as such we are seeking people who are highly disciplined when working in a busy environment, who thrive doing sometimes repetitive work, and who value supporting public safety programs in Ontario. In return successful candidates will benefit from working at the state-of-the-art Forensic Services and Coroners Complex (FSCC)
Centre of Forensic Sciences in North York, Toronto, within a supportive and innovative organization of over 300 staff, with opportunities to embed within and learn about each forensic discipline, contribute to the administration of justice, and develop personally and professionally over the course of a fulfilling career.
