If so, consider this dynamic opportunity with the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks in our Drinking Water and Environmental Compliance Division's West Central Region where you will be responsible for air-related assessments across a range of industrial sectors in the Region's three district offices - Hamilton, Guelph and Niagara.

About Us:
The Drinking Water and Environmental Compliance Division's regions, along with district and area offices, are the primary compliance delivery arm of the ministry, protecting the environment and human health in communities across Ontario. Our Regional Offices apply a risk-based approach and a range of compliance tools to improve environmental and human health outcomes; provide scientific and technical advice to support decision-making; use operational field experience and divisional analytics to support and inform policy and program development; and work with communities, local businesses and key stakeholders to identify and address complex, environmental problems.

About the job

In this role, you will:
• provide project management to review technical reports and develop recommendations;
• support the resolution of non-compliance and the implementation of broad based field response programs for air audit activities;
• review and evaluate engineering design submissions for complex sources of air emissions and air emission control technologies to ensure compliance;
• plan, coordinate and recommend improvements to increase program efficiency.

What you bring to the team

Mandatory requirements

• You are a Professional Engineer, licensed with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).

Technical Knowledge

• You have thorough knowledge of the theories, principles, practices and techniques of environmental chemical and process engineering to assess air emissions, including emission dispersion modelling, to review technical reports and engineering designs and lead in the delivery of technical support;
• You are able to acquire knowledge of environmental legislation (e.g. Environmental Protection Act), policies and guidelines.

Essential Skills

• You have oral and written communication skills to prepare formal presentations and reports
• You have project management skills to lead the development and implementation of new program initiatives.
• You have problem-solving and analytical skills to review complex designs of air emissions and air emission control technologies; to analyze issues, investigate causes of air pollution and air pollution incidents at industrial facilities.
