About the job

In this position, you will:

• provide technical and operational assistance with the park programs
• assist with preparing and presenting interpretive programs, and school programming, as required
• help in interpreting natural and cultural history of the park
• lend a hand with the preparation of stories for newsletters and promotional marketing material
• gather and record flora and fauna observations, visitor, tourism, marketing data and park attributes for park records
• provide general maintenance (i.e. housekeeping and minor repairs of marketing equipment and facility)
• provide care for live animals, including health checks, cleaning tanks and filters, feeding, etc.
• create video content for social media and virtual programming

What you bring to the team

Mandatory requirements:

• You must have a valid class 'G' driver's licence or equivalent, as recognized by the Province of Ontario. The offer of employment is conditional upon the successful candidate providing proof that s/he has a valid driver's licence upon being hired.
• You must be able to work shifts, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays as per schedule.

Knowledge:

• You possess knowledge of resource management principles and techniques.
• You are knowledgeable of interpretive programming preparation and presentation techniques.
• You have working knowledge of forest flora and fauna.
• You are knowledgeable of and have an ability to use computer programs such as word-processing, record keeping, digital image scanning, internet and email software applications.

Communication and interpersonal skills:

• You possess demonstrated communication skills to conduct presentations, park tours and abilities to facilitate interpretive programs for visitors and clients.
• You have well developed written communication skills to assist in creating stories and marketing boards.
• You have interpersonal and customer service skills to assist and deal with internal and external stakeholders.

General skills:

• You are a demonstrated leader and can supervise and assist staff.
• You have the ability to work independently and carry out instructions.
• You possess skills to prioritize tasks to meet competing deadlines and organize park events.
• You have the ability to operate and maintain audio visual equipment.
