Are you a high-performing educator with excellent technology enabled learning and teaching knowledge and experience? The Ministry of Education's Student Achievement Division, Digital and Online Learning Branch, Technology Enabled Learning Ontario (TELO) unit, is looking for an education professional with technical expertise to support sector adoption and implementation of the Virtual Learning Environment and the development and delivery of provincial education policies, programs, standards and resources.

About the job

• Supporting school board implementation of Ontario's Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) by providing Learning Management System (LMS) technical policy support and technical solutioning for school boards to implement programs using LMS.
• Advising on technical developments, issues, and opportunities in support of continuous VLE product improvement and optimal user experience.
• Developing strong and effective partnerships with the sector, partners and stakeholders to promote the advancement of online learning.
• Supporting other sector users in the VLE (Faculties of Education, Provincial Schools, School Authorities, First Nations communities, etc.).
• Researching and analyzing data, trends and best practices, and make recommendations supporting effective VLE implementation
• Developing analysis and advice to support ministry strategic policy development and implementation.

What you bring to the team

Technical Knowledge

• You have advanced knowledge and demonstrated experience in using the technical functionality of Learning Management Systems (LMS) and the VLE.
• You have advanced knowledge of school board Student Information System (SIS) software including data entry processes and experience with industry-standard LMS-SIS integration technical specifications to provide knowledge translation and technical support to education sector partners.
• You have advanced knowledge of privacy, security, and accessibility standards and experience with advising on and supporting their implementation and adoption of best practices.
• You have advanced skill in using Microsoft Excel and can use formulas and/or Visual Basic to manipulate data contained within a spreadsheet.

Education Sector Knowledge

• You have demonstrated understanding of how to effectively use technology in pedagogical practice and how to support educator professional learning.
• You can develop and deliver capacity building and professional learning to a range of education sector professionals.
• You can understand strategic and operational policy, pedagogical theories and have demonstrated knowledge of Ontario's education system.

Analytical, Problem-Solving and Project Management Skills

• You have demonstrated effectiveness in leading or supporting IT-related projects concerning Learning Management Systems, including the VLE.
• You have demonstrated project management experience related to the design and deployment of VLE implementation projects including skill in identifying challenges with new features within the LMS.
• You can analyze data, draw conclusions, and make recommendations. regarding applicability and relevance to the adoption and implementation of the VLE.

Communication and Consultation Skills

• You have consultation and relationship-building skills and demonstrate political acuity.
• You possess effective communication and presentation skills to write and edit resource and technical materials, prepare and deliver presentations, and lead consultations with a variety of stakeholders.
