About the job
• review, prepare and process a variety of payroll documents;
• record, verify and reconcile all employee attendance;
• develop and retrieve reports;
• liaise with Business Administrator regarding pay discrepancies;
• organize, maintain, update and ensure the safekeeping of personnel files and databases.
What you bring to the team
Specialized Knowledge and Experience
• You have knowledge of and experience with payroll, attendance and benefits processing requirements and practices in order to accurately track and record employee's time worked.
• You can understand and apply relevant legislation, accounting and administrative manuals, and collective agreements in order to interpret/determine employee entitlements and calculate payroll related payments/deductions.
• You have experience processing payments for variety of schedules such as 24/7 and compressed work week.
Research, Analytical, Problem-Solving, and Reasoning Skills
• You are able to verify payroll information in reports, spreadsheets or other sources to ensure accuracy.
• You can identify, analyze, and resolve inaccuracies in payroll and attendance documents as well as respond to queries from staff concerning payroll/benefits issues.
• You have arithmetic skills to calculate and reconcile documents relating to payroll attendance and employee benefit entitlements.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills
• You can explain policies, procedures, and practices as they apply to attendance and payroll.
• You have writing skills to draft documents, memos and responses to inquiries.
• You have demonstrated tact to resolve discrepancies or complaints as well as maintain confidentiality of personnel related information documents.
Organizational Skills
• You can organize, coordinate and complete work within established time-frames and under minimal supervision.
• You can maintain filing systems and have experience with records management and retention schedules.
Computer Skills
• You have an advanced level of proficiency with computer software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook to prepare a variety of material (i.e. correspondence, pivot tables, input or extract payroll/attendance data, spreadsheets and produce reports).
• You can use human resources information systems (HRIS) and payroll database systems.
