We need skilled user experience designers who can deliver quick, creative digital solutions to complex, interesting problems and enjoy a fast paced client centric environment to put their talents to use in achieving tangible business outcomes for our Ministry partners – Ministry of Labour, Training, Immigration and Skills Development and Ministry of Transportation.
You'll work with a great team of Product Managers, User Experience designers, developers, business stakeholders in a balanced team on a variety of external facing public services transformations to apply your knowledge, skills and experience with a dedicated team.

- 301 St. Paul Street in St. Catharines
- 400 University Avenue in Toronto
- 159 Sir William Hearst Avenue in Toronto.

About the job
You will:
- provide knowledge in developing and executing user experiences as part of the agile development software lifecycle, ensuring incorporation of best practices in user experience design
- provide team support on user experience design characteristics, user needs, goals, and opportunities
- create content design, user personas, task scenarios, wireframes, prototypes, functional specifications, navigation maps, information architecture and other design documents
- support and collaborate with Senior User Experience Designer team members on projects to determine potential opportunities for valuable end-user experiences and assess the impact on solutions on end-users, and on government business and policy needs
- design user interfaces and implement solution components using markup languages, front-end frameworks and other programming languages and libraries.
What you bring to the team
Technical Knowledge and Skills:
• You have knowledge of user experience design and strategy principles (including experience with software such as JustInMind, InVision, Sketch, Adobe Creative Cloud, Axure, Figma, and Zeplin. HTML5, CSS3, and JS skills (React, Angular, NodeJS)), methodologies and techniques, including accessibility, information architecture, research methodologies and techniques, including web analytics, focus groups, and user testing, World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) international standards; web accessibility standards, implementation and testing tools.
• You have knowledge of and experience in the application of usability and user-experience principles, methodologies and techniques, including interdependencies of user interface and navigation design, accessibility, and information architecture.
• You have knowledge of the Ontario Digital Service's Digital First Standard, Service Design Delivery Playbook, End-User Research Guide, and Digital First Assessments.
Interpersonal and Communication Skills:
• You have experience discussing issues, seeking common ground between diverse parties to develop collaborative solutions, and communicating user experience development requirements.
• You can provide advice and guidance on solution/content design and strategy; provides project updates, and exchange information.
• You can liaise with external partners, vendors, other stakeholders and industry colleagues, coordinate projects, share information, and discuss emerging trends in digital communications.
Analytical Thinking Skills:
• You can evaluate new user experience and design services to multiple clients with varying needs, considering client requirements, evidence and analytics, user experience methodologies, service capacity and organizational goals and objectives.
• You can evaluate evidence-based tools such as web analytics, visitor feedback, performance metrics.
• You can research user experience and digital standards and processes for use across government.
Planning and Coordinating Skills:
• You can plan and collaborate with Senior User Experience Designer team members on end-user research for the design, validation and ongoing improvement of ministry products and services.
• You can support concurrent projects with Senior User Experience Designer team members, often with competing priorities and tight timelines.
