About the job

In this role, you will:
• Develop project plans, performance measures and ongoing tracking and reporting requirements
• Conduct surveys and evaluations, and research, analyze and report on potentially contentious land use planning matters
• Participate in internal project teams to develop/update guidance documents.
• Coordinate the development of options, assessment feasibility, impact analyses, and recommend strategies
• Prepare project status reports, background information and analysis to assist in presenting results and research findings
• Support communication strategies and programs
• Prepare requests for proposals (RFPs) to procure external service providers, including terms of reference, performance criteria and project deliverables
• Conduct policy, program and related research activities to improve the delivery of the programs
• Coordinate the development of options, assessment feasibility, impact analyses, and recommend strategies
• Prepare project status reports, background information and analysis to assist in presenting results and research findings
• Coordinate and manage communication strategies and programs

What you bring to the team

Technical Knowledge

You have:
• Demonstrated knowledge of program and policy evaluation, monitoring, development and implementation techniques
• Ability to acquire and apply knowledge of theories, principles and practices of a wide variety of environmental and land use planning legislation, regulations, and standards (e.g. Planning Act, Environmental Bill of Rights)

Project Management and Business Planning Skills

You have:
• Knowledge of project management principles to develop project plans and performance measures, and lead project teams

Consultation and Communication Skills

You can:
• Provide program guidance, explain recommendations, and propose resolutions to resourcing conflicts
• Discuss and explain requirements of legislation, regulations, and policy/programs, technical information and terminology
• Conduct meetings, prepare technical reports, briefing materials and correspondence

Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills

You can:
• Apply judgement, tact and discretion to respond to sensitive and political issues
• Acquire and apply knowledge of freedom of information principles and processes
• Analyze competing interests of stakeholders
• Identify policy gaps and issues, and provide program recommendations
• Assess the implications and impact of proposed program changes
