The Human Resources Strategies Branch provides integrated human resources strategies and solutions to optimize organizational effectiveness. The branch supports ministry change management activities and leads succession planning and talent management initiatives to build organizational and leadership capacity. It supports initiatives aimed at achieving a culture of diversity, inclusion and anti-racism, health, safety and wellness and recognition as well as supporting employee engagement and the employee experience. The Branch is also the lead for the ministry's continuity of operations planning and physical security programs.

About the job

As a strategic human resources professional, you will:

• Provide strategic advice to Assistant Deputy Ministers and Directors in the areas of: organizational design and effectiveness, talent and performance management, FTE management and workforce planning, and strategic labour relations.
• Plan, lead and manage ministry wide human capital initiatives in the areas of: anti-racism, diversity and inclusion, learning and development and health, safety and wellness.
• Build and maintain trusting relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
• Analyze business processes and requirements.

What you bring to the team

Relationship Management and Communication Skills

• You have proven consulting, interpersonal and relationship management skills to develop and maintain constructive business partnerships with senior leaders.
• You demonstrate effective communication skills to discuss and deliver strategic advice to senior leaders, to influence key decisions, draft and review business cases and decision notes and develop engaging presentations and placemats.
• You are a team player with collaboration skills to develop and sustain solid working relationships with colleagues and internal/external partners.
• You act with integrity and you can develop appropriate responses to sensitive situations.

Project Management and Analytical Skills

• You have well-developed conceptual, analytical and research skills that enable you to understand and interpret complex business requirements, identify HR and organizational issues and make appropriate recommendations.
• You have project management and coordination skills to oversee and lead various initiatives, activities and services concurrently.

Strategic Human Resources Knowledge

• You have knowledge of and experience in integrating a range of HR services (e.g. organizational design and effectiveness, talent and performance management, FTE Management and workforce planning, health, safety and wellness and strategic labour relations, human resource related legislation, policies, and collective agreements) to support clients to meet their business goals.
• You are up to date on industry HR practices and trends.
• You have experience leading or supporting human capital initiatives and understanding their impact on organizational performance and business effectiveness.
