About the job

As a Regional Systems Officer, you will:

• provide technical expertise and support to clients relating to the evaluation, testing, installation, administration, maintenance and operation of business applications, systems and hardware for geographically dispersed sites
• provide technical support for existing and emerging in-court technologies such as digital recording devices, electronic evidentiary display systems, remote witness testimony and video conferencing
• provide continuous maintenance, monitoring and testing for multiple, geographically dispersed sites or back-up support to prevent downtime by: identifying and performing troubleshooting in relation to system performance (hardware/software/network)
• provide technical support for non-standard devices and software for the Judiciary
• liaise with third-party hardware, software, and telecommunications vendors for support, repairs, replacement or modification of systems or services as may be required
• provide advice on technical strategies, solutions and tools on behalf of Court Services and the Judiciary
• provide Tier 2 support and training to end-users

What you bring to the team

Mandatory requirements

• you must have a minimum of a valid driver's licence class “G” or equivalent as recognized by the Province of Ontario to travel to remote sites where other modes of transportation are not available.

Information Technology Knowledge and Skills

• you have knowledge of information technology concepts and principles
• you have knowledge of various types of computer hardware such as servers, desktops, notebook computers, MFDs, peripheral equipment and network technologies (wiring, routers, switches, local area networks, wide area networks and wireless networks)
• you have knowledge of maintenance operations, testing, diagnostic software, data back-up software and recovery procedures
• you have basic audio-visual knowledge for support of audio systems and electronic displays

Communication and Interpersonal Skills

• you have proven written and verbal communication skills
• you have interpersonal skills with tact, judgment and discretion
• you can work independently and in a team environment
• you have knowledge of training methods and practices to prepare and deliver training to users

Reasoning, Analytical, Evaluative and Problem-Solving Skills

• you have analytical, evaluative and problem-solving skills to diagnose system failures and troubleshoot equipment breakdowns and provide corrective action plans and recommendations
• you have prioritization, organizational, and coordination skills to respond to service requests and other tasks in a timely manner
