MPBSD delivers vital programs and services to the people of Ontario and the OPS. This includes the delivery of efficient, effective services like drivers' licences and health cards through ServiceOntario, and variety of consumer protection and public safety initiatives. About the job

You will:

• research, develop and implement large and small-scale strategic communications plans to support high-profile initiatives
• provide communications expertise and strategic issues management advice to senior officials on complex communications strategies
• prepare materials such as communications snapshots, speeches, news releases, presentations, event plans, educational products, video scripts, in accordance with policies, practices and editorial standards
• provide leadership to staff and consultants, ensuring the effective execution of comprehensive communications plans
• coordinate and plan media events, and evaluate outcomes

Mandatory requirements

• You must possess oral and written French language skills at the advanced level. Your proficiency level will be confirmed before hire

Leadership, Project Management and Motivational Skills

You can:
• coordinate the implementation of large-scale communications plans and activities
• prioritize multiple projects
• lead and work cooperatively with colleagues
• make decisions and deal with contentious issues

Relationship Management and Advisory Skills

You can:
• develop and maintain effective partnerships and obtain endorsement in public relations campaigns/consultations
• provide strategic communications advice and demonstrate diplomacy
• use your persuasion, conflict management, and consensus-building skills to promote alternative communications consistent with government priorities

Research, Analytical and Computer Skills

• you have well developed research and analytical skills
• you can provide environmental communications assessments and measurement analysis
• you can effectively use Office 365 applications
• you can conduct intranet/internet research

Communication and Presentation Skills

You can:
• articulate complex policy/legislation, and liaise with clients and key stakeholder organizations inside and outside of the OPS
• craft a wide variety of written materials incorporating appropriate government messaging
• present in clear, easy-to-understand language for public and media audiences

Technical Expertise

You have:
• knowledge of contemporary communications theory, principles and practices, writing techniques, media environment, and media and public relations
• experience developing communications programs and products
• enough experience to understand the policy development process
