About the job

You will provide financial analysis services and support by:

• calculating adjustments to family support obligations;
• updating and maintaining client accounts;
• reconciling and balancing general ledgers, sub-ledgers, and financial reports against bank statements, court orders and other documentation;
• ensuring compliance with court documents and governing legislation and regulations;
• verifying accuracy of receipts and disbursements;
• ensuring the integrity of the program's general ledger accounts; and
• communicating in various formats (e.g., preparing letters, conducting phone calls, leaving detailed case notes) with internal and external clients to clearly articulate your rationale for financial calculations and/or decisions.

What you bring to the team

Mandatory requirements

You must possess oral and written French language skills at the advanced level. Your proficiency level will be confirmed before hire.

Financial Knowledge

• You have knowledge of financial and accounting guidelines, standards, and controls to support general ledger accounts.
• You have the ability to interpret and apply knowledge of relevant legislation (such as the Family Responsibility and Support Arrears Enforcement Act) and regulations to support the calculation of adjustments to family support obligations.
• You can apply accounting principles, practices, and financial controls, make sound decisions and maintain client accounts in accordance with court orders, legal agreements and governing legislation.
• You exhibit strong financial analytical skills to analyze court documents and calculate financial adjustments.
• You have experience using balancing systems and reconciliation processes to balance and reconcile general ledger accounts.
• You can analyze, research and resolve discrepancies and inconsistencies in financial reports and can provide input and feedback when necessary.

Communication Skills

• You have excellent oral communication skills to communicate clearly and effectively.
• You have written communication skills to prepare financial reports, correspondence and data in a variety of formats.
• You demonstrate excellent interpersonal and team-building skills.

Computer Skills

• You have experience with, and knowledge of, computer software applications (e.g. MS Office, including spreadsheets, databases, word processing, etc.).
• You have experience with advanced spreadsheet techniques such as developing and applying formulas, macros, Pivot Tables, etc.
