About the job
In this role, you will:
• participate in the planning, design and implementation of existing and emerging ITS and ATMS technologies and systems to improve traffic operations and safety on provincial highways
• coordinate the activities of other team members to ensure the delivery of projects on schedule
• ensure that all feasibility and planning studies, designs and contract documents are complete and technically correct
• provide engineering expertise on ITS/ATMS projects, prepare technical reports, make presentations and recommend modifications within budget, time and safety constraints
• provide general direction, coordination and control to external consultants, engineers and contractors
• provide project management support for projects or technical issues
What you bring to the team
Mandatory requirements
• You are a Professional Engineer, licensed with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
• The position requires the successful candidate to have a valid class G driver's licence or equivalent. The offer of employment is conditional upon the successful candidate providing proof that s/he has a valid driver's licence upon being hired.
Technical Knowledge:
• You have knowledge of the theories, principles and practices of traffic engineering, planning, design, operation and maintenance, and evaluation of major transportation systems, e.g. advanced traffic management systems and intelligent transportation systems and associated electronic and communication technologies.
Essential Skills:
• You have analytical and decision-making skills required in investigating and determining the merits of various options and products (based on efficiency, safety, traffic behaviour and cost effectiveness).
• You are able to communicate in a clear and concise manner, prepare technical reports, make presentations, and build and maintain effective working relationships.
• You have project management, planning and organizational skills to be able to lead, plan, and participate in project team activities.
