The Income Security and Pension Policy Division is seeking a Policy Analyst to conduct policy development, research and analysis related to the pensions sector and the regulation of pension plans in Ontario.

About the job
In this role, you will:
• Analyze new/existing policies, and administrative practices and proposals related to employment pension plans and the Pension Benefits Act
• Assess the regulatory and operational implications of proposed policy changes
• Prepare research and analysis reports, policy statements, bulletins, manuals and communications, Cabinet submissions, briefing notes, background papers, house notes, options papers and correspondence
• Conduct environmental scans and provide support on data and statistics
• Provide advice, briefings and presentations to senior management
• Liaise with ministries and external stakeholders
What you bring to the team
Technical Knowledge
You have:
• Knowledge of policy development process, and understanding of government decision-making and legislative processes
• Knowledge of policy research and analysis methodology to determine data source and research techniques, conduct in-depth research, environmental scans and analyses, and forecast trends
• Understanding of policy directions, initiatives and priorities of pension sector organizations
• Ability to acquire and apply knowledge of Ontario pension legislation, related legislation of Ontario and other jurisdictions, sector policy and regulation, tax legislation and federal income security programs
Organizational, Research and Analytical Skills
You can:
• Set priorities and ensure completion of assigned tasks within timelines
• Identify inadequacies and inefficiencies and assist in the developing options/recommendations
• Plan and conduct policy research and analysis
• Identify and analyze policy impacts, and emerging/sensitive policy issues
Communication and Consultation Skills

• Respond to issues, provide recommendations, prepare reports, briefing materials and correspondence
• Develop and implement stakeholder consultation strategies
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships across jurisdictions
• Deliver presentations/material to staff, senior management and internal/external stakeholders

• You have proficiency of computer applications (e.g. word processing, spreadsheets, graphics and databases) to prepare briefing materials, presentations, correspondence, and research and policy/program development materials
