About the job

As a Fire Management Systems Officer, you will:
• provide expertise and advice to management and staff on use of information technology
• act as a resource in the resolution of technical problems and provide technical training for staff
• provide onsite and remote hardware and software support for a wide range of Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Management end users across the province
• maintain and support Decision Support Systems, Predictive Services Systems, and Information Management Systems
• provide assistance in the development and coordination of new fire management information decision systems and programs

What you bring to the team

Mandatory requirements:

• valid driver's licence and ability to travel to office locations in northern Ontario to provide training, maintenance, and upgrades to systems
• job requires a willingness to work long hours for extended periods of time during escalated fire situations

Technical Knowledge and Skills

You have:
• knowledge of personal and server computer systems technologies, operating systems, application software, hardware, peripherals, and database design
• knowledge of current information systems technologies and the principles of information systems development
• knowledge of web-based application design, theories and methodologies

Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills

You have the:
• ability to assess client's information and systems needs to assist in developing cost effective information management solutions
• ability to assist in the developing of alternative system applications

Communication and Interpersonal Skills

• You have the ability to obtain information and create annual reports and operating plans.
• You have oral communication skills to provide advice, training, and make recommendations.

General Skills

• You have project management and coordination skills to ensure projects are properly proposed, designed, and implemented.
• You have the ability to work in a team environment.
• You can plan, organize, and prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment.
• You have the ability to stay current on new and upcoming technologies and how they can be applied to fire system requirements.
