About the job

In this role, you will:

• provide operational leadership in the day-to-day operations of the park store which includes supplies and food services;
• provide team leadership and training to park store staff, and high quality customer service to park visitors;
• search out suppliers and obtain price quotes for goods, purchase sundries and camping supplies, maintain and balance inventory reports;
• prepare annual reports and recommendations with respect to suppliers, quality of service and products, pricing structure and cost analysis.

What you bring to the team


Mandatory requirements

• must have a valid class G driver's license as recognized by the province of Ontario or equivalent.
• ability to work shifts, weekends and statutory holidays as per schedule
• ability to obtain certification in Safe Food Handling Practices
• ability to obtain a valid Emergency First Aid Certificate

Retail expertise:

• ability to operate a park store and restaurant effectively, including budgeting and the procurement of goods for resale
• knowledge of retailing/marketing methods and procedures to ensure adequate quantity and proper display of merchandise
• knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash handling and inventory control processes in order to manage revenues, reconcile sales and prepare sales summary reports
• knowledge of and ability to operate computerized cash register systems and Point-of-Sales (POS) machines

Leadership skills:

• group leadership skills to effectively manage a team, prepare work schedules and assist with training
• experienced in the management of retail operations and staffing

Communication and customer service skills:

• strong interpersonal and communication skills to deal effectively with public and staff
• ability to provide excellent customer service

Essential skills:

• ability to organize work, set priorities and complete work in a timely and efficient manner
• proficiency with common office productivity software such as word processors, spreadsheets, email, etc.

Acts and regulations knowledge:

• knowledge of Ministry of Health regulations pertaining to the proper and safe handling and storage of food
• knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Regulations made under the Act that apply to the workplace and the work being performed
