If so, please consider this great opportunity where you will provide culinary assistance to the Harkness Cook by preparing, cooking and serving meals for 20-50 MNRF staff and research partners at the Harkness Laboratory of Fisheries Research.

About the job

• assist in the preparation, cooking and serving of three meals a day for up to 50 people
• ensure kitchen, cookhouse, cabins and work area is clean and maintained in a sanitary manner at all times
• ensure mealtime scheduled is followed and ensure food is cooked properly and served according to the schedule

What you bring to the team


Specialized knowledge:

• You have knowledge and experience with general cooking methods, food preparation and storage procedures.
• You have knowledge of good hygiene and food safety regulations, and general principles of safe food handling to ensure the cookhouse facility is kept clean and tidy.
• You have knowledge and experience with the use of common kitchen equipment and tools.

Communication Skills

• You have well developed communication skills to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.

Organizational skills:

• You have proven organizational skills to provide three meals per day according to schedule and assist in maintaining meal-tracking sheets and assisting with invoicing and inventories.
