The Learning and Education Leader will lead and mentor a small team of interpreters who develop and deliver educational programs, participate in ecological monitoring programs, and develop products that connect visitors with Ontario's natural and cultural heritage in meaningful ways.

What can I expect to do in this role?
In this role, you will:
• assist with the planning, coordination and implementation of the Ontario Parks Learning and Education program
• provide leadership and training to staff and students
• carry out a variety of technical duties and program responsibilities for the Learning and Education program
• provide effective customer service to internal and external clients and park visitors
How do I qualify?
Mandatory
• You must have a valid class 'G' driver's licence or equivalent, as recognized by the Province of Ontario. The offer of employment is conditional upon the successful candidate providing proof that they have a valid driver's licence upon being hired.
• You have the ability to work shifts, including nights, weekends and statutory holidays as required.
• You have the ability to work in inclement weather.
• You have the ability to travel extended distances by vehicle to support programming.
Natural resources knowledge:
• knowledge of the natural and cultural history of Ontario including resource protection principles and procedures as they apply to provincial parks, and the ability to identify and interpret natural and cultural features
• knowledge of standard ecological principles, theories and procedures
• knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply relevant acts, regulations, policies, procedures and guidelines (e.g. Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves Act, Provincial Park Policies and Procedures)
Training and interpretive knowledge:
• knowledge of training delivery and interpretive principles, techniques, and common practices (including traditional and/or inquiry-based learning techniques)
• leadership skills to deliver training to Ontario Park staff and students
Communication and interpersonal skills:
• demonstrated communication and presentation skills to communicate to staff and a variety of park visitors, and to provide excellent customer service
• proven interpersonal communication skills and an ability to communicate effectively with the supervisor and report on work progress on a continual basis
Analytical and organizational skills:
• analytical skills to identify program trends, needs, gaps, and opportunities and give priority based on knowledge of subject matter
• organizational skills to support programming, organize own workload, ensure responsibilities are met, and to work independently
• ability to provide guidance and evaluations to staff
Computer proficiency:
• knowledge of computers and common office productivity applications such as word processing, spreadsheet, database, design/ presentation, e-mail and internet
