About the job
Bring your construction experience and knowledge to this critical position with the Ministry of Labour. You will enforce the Occupational Health and Safety Act /Regulations; conduct site inspections/investigations; write orders/reports; engage in enforcement activities, including prosecutions; promote safe work practices/working conditions through the Internal Responsibility System (IRS).
What you bring to the team
Mandatory requirements
Proficiency in English and French; working knowledge and practical experience in a broad range of construction settings, techniques/equipment in order to identify, evaluate/control health and safety hazards. Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act/Regulations, standards and legislation as they apply to the construction industry; demonstrated ability to conduct investigations, enforce legislation, participate in court procedures, handle labour/management issues, including conflict resolution. Analytical and auditing skills. Sound planning, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills; experience writing clear/concise reports. Results oriented and ability to deliver on performance objectives; knowledge of computer information technology, computer databases and related software packages. Ability to travel extensively/respond to after hours-calls. Valid Ontario drivers license.
