The Drugs and Assistive Devices I&IT Solutions Branch mandate is to develop, maintain, and modernize the core I&IT solutions for Ontario Public Drug Programs (OPDP) and the Assistive Devices Program (ADP).

About Us
The Health Services I&IT Cluster (HSC) is accountable for developing, testing, and enhancing Ministry business I&IT solutions while responding to changing business drivers that encompass legislative requirements, technology currency, and new business solutions to support the achievement of the Ministry's operational and transformational objectives.

The Drugs and Assistive Devices I+IT Solutions (DADS) branch is responsible for the development, sustainment, improvement, and modernization of core I+IT solutions for the Assistive Devices Program and Ontario Public Drug Programs.

We are looking for an IT Professional to provide senior level system testing services. The role is responsible for the creation and execution of test cases, reporting to senior DADS resources, discussing test results with business clients and assisting in pre and post implementation system testing activities.

The ideal candidate will have experience with web-enabled solutions. Applicants should have demonstrated experience working on projects that meet the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) including familiarity with tools and techniques required to test compliance.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:
• Provide application development and system testing expertise to ensure all systems and applications are developed and meet functional specifications of the client before being promoted into production to ensure the integrity and reliability of production databases and recommend modifications to operational systems.
• Perform assigned application development tasks; system, functional, regression, volume, performance, post implementation, and/or user acceptance testing tasks, including re-testing any modifications which arise as a result of this testing; ensures integrity of project documentation by resolving all relevant modifications resulting from development, testing and implementation.
• Develop complete systems development and testing documentation, including detailed test plans/strategies and test cases, including expected and actual results; developing and enhancing automated test scripts, including scripting, data generation through the use of industry standard tools (for example, JIRA, Rationale Suite) and maintaining comprehensive materials to support audit.

How do I qualify?

Knowledge and Technical Skills

• you have demonstrated experience/knowledge of various industry standard development and relational database management systems databases such as Java, JEE, Web Services - REST / SOAP, JSON/XML, and Oracle/DB2, and tools such as SQL, IDE – JetBrains, Eclipse, and others
• you have demonstrated experience/knowledge of various industry standard debugging and testing methods, techniques and tools at various levels of testing (unit, integration, system, UAT and others) to identify and debug problems encountered with software/hardware
• you have an understanding and experience with testing and implementation processes to design and develop system testing plans, test suites and test cases, create and update test data, review test results, develop complete system testing documentation, implement enhanced systems, and recommend changes to existing test procedures
• you have demonstrated knowledge of industry standard SDLC methodologies such as Waterfall, Iterative and Agile, and other techniques for the analysis, design, development, testing, and implementation of complex solutions

Analytical and Problem Solving Skills

You have demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills to:
• identify, analyze, and assess information and systems needs of clients as part of a project team
• collect information on business needs through interviews with clients
• identify impact of systems changes/developments on service delivery and develop recommendations on the most appropriate systems testing solutions
• assist in the resolution of production incidents/issues

Communication and Interpersonal Skills

• you can convey, fully grasp, and explain detailed information which may involve specialized information technology terminology
• you can present, discuss, and explain highly complex information and arguments in a field of expertise where precise language is critical
• you can prepare systems documentation, reports on systems options, and interview clients to clarify their needs and provide assistance such as explaining systems options and recommendations, and provide practical instructions and advice
• you have interpersonal skills to provide clarification and explanation to deal with problems or complaints
• you can assist with others' understanding of computer hardware and software
