Effective April 1, 2024 the salary range for this position is $76,231 to $109,842 per year. The new rates, effective retroactive to April 1, 2024, were recently confirmed and dates for implementation of the new salary rates are still to be determined.

The Job Evaluation Initiatives Branch (JEIB) is seeking individuals for our Organizational Design and Classification Services Unit and our Classification System and Pay Equity Unit.

The Organizational Design and Classification Services Unit offers classification services for all positions up to and including the assistant deputy minister level and works with HR business partners to ensure consistent interpretation and application of the OPS classification system.

The Classification System and Pay Equity Unit establishes and conducts regular reviews of pay equity, job evaluation tools and standardized job descriptions for all OPS jobs.

As a centre of expertise, JEIB, facilitates a one-employer approach for the Ontario Public Service's (OPS) enterprise-wide organizational design and job classification framework to reflect the evolution of organizational models and work and to support the OPS' ability to be nimble and respond to changing priorities.

As responsible stewards of public funds, program executives and managers are expected to apply the same care, attention and knowledge to making organizational decisions as they would to financial transactions. As such, the Employer has sub-delegated the authority to make classification decisions solely to employees in JEIB who have been so trained and certified/accredited.

About the job

In this dynamic role, you will:
• Build positive relationships with key stakeholders such as ministry clients and unions to advance program modernization initiatives.
• Participate in the Job Evaluation Academy to obtain classification accreditation to render classification decisions on behalf of the Employer.
• Write job descriptions, conduct organizational analysis and assess organizational structures.
• Research and analyze roles through job validation reviews and relativity analysis;
• Apply modern job evaluation tools and/or develop pay equity compliant job evaluation plans that determine classifications for OPS jobs.
• Participate in program projects and activities to support the OPS classification system and policy and program management.

Mandatory requirements

• Combination of knowledge, skills, and expertise in job evaluation discipline

Upon hiring, strong candidates who may not have specific knowledge and expertise but meet other requirements will receive on-the-job training towards certification and accreditation in OPS-relevant job evaluation methodologies. Certification/accreditation within the specified timeframe is mandatory. Those candidates who require particular training may start at the underfill level (I0702A) until they attain working-level competence.
