Effective April 1, 2024 the salary range for this position is $76,231 to $109,842 per year. The new rates, effective retroactive to April 1, 2024, were recently confirmed and dates for implementation of the new salary rates are still to be determined.

About the job

HR Advisors facilitate early workplace issue resolution, and guide managers and directors in the operationalization of a one employer, enterprise approach to HR issues and people management. This position plays a critical role in providing strategic advice to help OPS leaders make informed decisions and mitigate risks and is a key partner in promoting positive labour relations, and supporting organizational transformation.

We believe that an effective HR professional in the OPS is responsible, innovative, collaborative, and inclusive. We are looking for someone who demonstrates authenticity, accountability, and courage in how they interact with others, drives people-centered outcomes and promotes an inclusive environment. Someone who works to confront bias and systemic barriers, while understanding the importance of creating a more diverse, anti-racist, and accessible workplace would be a great asset in our organization.

You will use your expertise to provide strategic HR advice to clients on:

• Employment accommodation, attendance management and employment transition
• Organizational design, staffing, performance management, compensation and labour relations
• The application of human resource legislation, policies, programs and collective agreements
• Coaching clients in strategies for successful HR outcomes
• Developing and deliver presentations and briefings to senior executives
• Preparing project plans, implementation plans, briefing notes and analysis documents
• Designing and facilitating engagement sessions with clients and stakeholders on HR topics

• Contributing to innovative solutions on complex and multi-faceted issues
• Developing strategic products that move the bar on various ministry and corporate initiatives

What you bring to the team


Human Resources Knowledge and Expertise:

• You are knowledgeable about HR legislation, HR policies/programs, and strategic HR knowledge areas: health and wellness, employee engagement, accessibility, compensation and strategic labour relations.
• You have knowledge of and experience working as an HR professional providing and interpreting and applying human resources policies, legislation, and best practices to provide advice, recommendations and consultative labour relations services.
• You have the ability to use knowledge of HR legislation, policies and program to create solution-oriented, client-focused and strategic advice and support for clients.
• You have demonstrated knowledge of current best practices and trends in diversity, equity and inclusion, and anti-racism to provide advice to clients.

Consultation, Communication and Relationship Management

• You have the ability to provide advice and influence clients to achieve desired results using oral and written communication skills to present and deliver strategic advice on human resources policies, practices and legislation clearly to various audiences in a way that helps focus individuals, teams or groups on joint problem solving.
• You have the ability to act with integrity, a commitment to confidentiality and can develop appropriate responses to sensitive or emotional situations and guide clients through contentious issues.
• You have the ability to lead others to resolution in highly complex situations, with multiple parties, significantly differing motivations, conflicting interests and/or strong and ambiguous positions .
• You can consult, provide proactive customer service and manage relationships to provide clients with well-considered assessments of their needs, issues, options, and opportunities.
• You are able to discover, understand and asses the clients' needs, develop trust and rapport, personalize approaches, advice and solutions, and resolve issues to increase client satisfaction and develop strong client relationships
• You can develop and sustain effective working relationships with enterprise HR partners, union representatives, and colleagues.

Analytical and Problem Solving Skills

• You can identify, analyze and create solutions for a range of difficult, confidential, and sensitive issues, including measures to minimize risks and impacts; interpret legislation, directives, policies and collective agreements; and identify the impact of corporate human resources initiatives on client operations.
• You have the ability to recognize and understand complex problems, conduct relevant research (including from Human Resources Information systems), and utilize information/data, knowledge and experience to develop recommendations, advice, guidance and responsible solutions and strategies to HR issues within the context of legislated requirements and HR policies, processes and best practices.

Project Management, Case Management, Planning and Organizational Skills

• You have demonstrated high performing organizational and time management skills and experience managing a high volume of work with competing priorities and deadlines, working with partners to deliver service.
• You have strong project management skills and proven ability to lead projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• You can lead/participate on project or work teams for the review, development and implementation of program policies, procedures and processes.
• You can coordinate your own activities and plan daily work taking into consideration client management needs
