About the job

Contributing to the overall fundraising goals of the Development team, you will play a significant role in stewarding and nurturing relationships with donors, sponsors and volunteers of the Ontario Science Centre.

The position is responsible for developing and implementing stewardship strategies to cultivate donor relationships, recognize contributions, and ensure ongoing engagement and support.

The role requires a self-starter with strong sales, stewardship, donor research and event planning experience coupled with superior written and oral communication skills that enable you to interact with various types of stakeholders.

What you bring to the team


Donor Stewardship and Event Planning

• Experience in developing and implementing stewardship plans for individual, government, corporate, and foundation donors, ensuring timely and meaningful recognition of their contributions.
• Experience coordinating stewardship activities such as thank-you letters, donor recognition events, and personalized communications to express gratitude and highlight the impact of donor support
• Experience in organizing events of various types and sizes for stewardship and fundraising purposes
• Experience managing and motivating volunteers to achieve strategic outcomes.
• Proven creativity in donor stewardship with experience in creating promotional materials to share impact and motivate renewed giving.
• Strong experience in maintaining donor records to produce reports and donor follow up actions
• Familiarity with tracking performance measurement indicators (for reporting purposes)
• Strong familiarity with fundraising databases (preferably SalesForce) and handling personal and private information

Relationship Management and Communication Skills

• Advanced relationship management and communication skills to engage with donors, volunteers and the Science Centre's leadership team
• Interpersonal and teambuilding skills to liaise with donors, volunteers and internal Science Centre teams.
• Highly developed written and verbal communication and persuasion/sales skills.
• Negotiation, problem solving and diplomacy skills to resolve issues with donors, sponsors, suppliers and other stakeholders.

Experience in Fundraising

• Strong experience in prospect research, background profiling, writing and producing proposals, promotional materials, presentations and recommending approach strategies.
• Knowledge and success in making asks, preparing formal gift agreements, fulfilling donor needs, preparing impact reports and tracking follow up actions.
• Understanding of fundraising and donor relations principles, techniques, benchmarks and best practices.
