About the job
In this role, you will:
• process all incoming mail by sorting into delivery locations or pre-determined categories;
• process outgoing mail by sorting, weighing and metering in preparation of delivery;
• process offender mail in accordance with ministry policy and directives;
• process courier deliveries, complete waybills, manifest and custom forms;
• perform a variety of administrative tasks;
• provide back up support to the Receptionist.
What you bring to the team
Mail Knowledge and Skills
• You have knowledge of Canada Post products and services.
• You can use the postage machine and scale to weigh and affix correct postage.
• You can interpret and apply ministry policy and directives regarding offender mails.
Organizational Skills
• You can prioritize and organize tasks to ensure work is completed in a timely manner.
Analytical, Reasoning and Problem-Solving Skills
• You can identify incoming and outgoing mail for sorting by destination, method of delivery or other category (e.g., courier, etc.).
• You can ensure that mail is properly weighted, metered, folded and inserted into envelopes and sealed securely.
• You can determine the correct destination of incorrectly addressed mail.
Oral and Written Communication Skills
• You can communicate effectively in person or by phone when providing information on mail and postage services.
• You can complete waybills and manifests for outgoing courier shipments.
• You can use tact and courtesy when dealing with staff on mail and courier related issues.
