Consider this opportunity with the Provincial & Demonstration Schools Branch to provide a high standard of cleaning services at a large school complex.

Effective January 1st, 2024 the salary range for this position is $24.68 to $26.67 per hour in compliance with OPSEU Unified Bargaining Unit collective agreement provisions. The new rates, effective retroactive to January 1, 2024, were recently confirmed and dates for implementation of the new salary rates are still to be determined.

About the job

E.C. Drury School for the Deaf/Trillium Demonstration School Campuses seeks a dedicated individual to:

• maintain premises by performing all aspects of cleaning responsibilities on a daily basis (including dusting, vacuuming, cleaning and disinfecting all washrooms, shower and bath areas, furniture, walls, windows, garbage containers, wet mop floors, pick up garbage and recycling)
• remove snow and ice from doorways and emergency exits as required
• operate and maintain equipment such as buffing and shampoo machines
• requisition and deliver supplies and load and unload trucks

Please Note: While this position requires working afternoon shifts for the duration of the school year, there may be a requirement to work day shifts for holiday breaks/hiatus periods, or as needed for training or other purposes. The current afternoon schedule is 1:30pm - 10pm, Monday to Friday.

What you bring to the team


Technical Knowledge:

You have knowledge of:
• equipment, materials and cleaning processes
• Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) requirements for the handling of chemical solutions
• Occupational Health and Safety Act requirements related to work environment hazards

Communication, Analytical and Prioritization Skills:

• You can determine daily priorities and recognize problems to identify the need for maintenance or repairs, maintain schedule of work tasks, and to requisition supplies and report problems.
• You have communication and interpersonal skills to courteously convey information.
• You have ability to understand department procedures and quality requirements.
