About the job
In this position, you will:
• Identify emerging issues related to road safety
• Lead and/or undertake projects to conceptualize, research, develop and recommend policy options
• Recommend changes to legislation, regulations and policies
• Consult and solicit input on proposed policies and programs
• Prepare reports, briefing notes and a range of correspondence/analyses to support issues management
• Develop and deliver presentations to internal and external stakeholders
• Liaise with senior staff and external groups to achieve road safety objectives
What you bring to the team
Policy Development Expertise
• You have research skills to conduct qualitative/quantitative research, analyze trends and emerging issues, and evaluate best practices
• You have analytical skills to formulate evidence-based policy options, evaluate risks and assess the effectiveness and impact of new/revised policies and programs
• You have experience in interpreting and applying policies, legislation and regulations
• You have knowledge of and strong understanding of policy and program development principles and techniques and government decision-making processes
Communication and Interpersonal Skills
• You have oral and written communication skills to communicate complex concepts and ideas, deliver presentations, and prepare reports, notes, and briefing materials
• You can build and maintain effective working relationships
• You have interpersonal, negotiation, and presentation skills to undertake consultations with a variety of stakeholders
Other Technical Expertise
• You can work independently with limited resources
• You can work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple issues and deliverables under tight timelines
• You have experience with personal computer technology and applications in support of statistical and data analysis (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
