In this key position, you will oversee the planning, development, and implementation of programs and projects that support the Lieutenant Governor's mandate, ensuring alignment with broader strategic priorities.

Please note: A working proficiency in French is considered a strong asset for this role.

About the Opportunity

As a Senior Advisor, you will play a crucial role in supporting our strategic planning and programming efforts. You will lead projects from inception to completion, coordinating with stakeholders, monitoring progress, and assessing outcomes. You will stay informed about best practices in vice-regal offices and apply strategic insights to enhance programming and develop initiatives that strengthen the Lieutenant Governor's reach and impact throughout her mandate.

Working closely with colleagues, you will develop innovative programming options, help design and implement initiatives that support our goals, and conduct research to identify opportunities for program enhancements. Your leadership will extend to engaging with various partners and fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders.

Your work will contribute to strengthening civic engagement, fostering connections across Ontario, and supporting the vice-regal office in serving the people of the province.

Please note, this position is located at 111 Wellesley St W, Toronto, and the successful candidate is required to work in the office a minimum of three days per week.

  • About the job

    Reporting to the Manager and Chief Advisor of Planning, Protocol and Engagement, you will:

    • Lead the planning, design, implementation, and overall coordination of complex projects that support the Office of the Lieutenant Governor's events, programs, and initiatives.

    • Provide project management oversight, including monitoring project progress, tracking deliverables, and reporting outcomes to senior management and the Lieutenant Governor.

    • Collaborate with colleagues to generate creative programming options, enhance existing programs, and design and develop new initiatives; conduct research and analysis to inform this work; and prepare recommendations for senior management.

    • Research and stay informed about programming and initiatives in vice-regal offices, and identify best practices.

    • Develop and maintain effective working relationships and networks with internal and external partners and stakeholders.

    • Support committees and collaborate with partners, including public servants, other vice-regal offices, patronage organizations, stakeholders, non-profits, and community groups, to develop and deliver programs and initiatives.

    • Provide direct support to the Manager and Chief Advisor of Planning, Protocol and Engagement on a range of priorities, including research, briefing materials, and special projects, while also taking on other responsibilities as assigned to support the evolving needs of the Office.

    • develop program and project plans from concept to completion, including timelines, resources, and risk management strategies
    • monitor progress, track deliverables, and report outcomes to senior management
    • provide leadership and guidance to project teams, identifying clear roles and responsibilities, and fostering a positive and inclusive environment

    Research, Analytical and Evaluation Skills:

    You can demonstrate an ability to:
    • conduct research and analysis to support and inform project planning, development, and implementation
    • research and contribute to strategic and operational planning
    • assess the effectiveness of new/changed policies and programs, and identify best practices, to inform program design and opportunities for new programs and enhancements

    Interpersonal and Communication Skills:

    You can demonstrate an ability to:
    • act as a liaison between various parties, building key partnerships and collaborating with stakeholders, including government officials, patronage groups, community leaders, and the public
    • develop communication materials, such as correspondence, presentations and briefing notes, to support stakeholder engagement and brief senior management and the Lieutenant Governor
    • use a high level of discretion and judgment when managing sensitive and confidential information
    • lead consultations with stakeholders, and provide expert advice to senior management on performance improvement

    Coordination and Issue Management Skills:

    You can demonstrate an ability to:
    • plan and coordinate multiple programs and projects
    • coordinate with internal and external stakeholders for successful project and program execution
    • problem-solve in high-pressure situations and on tight deadlines, working collaboratively with stakeholders
