About the job
Duties Will Include:
• Preparing cases and conducting prosecutions for criminal and quasi-criminal offences in the Ontario Court of Justice and the Superior Court of Justice for both adult and youth cases
• Providing professional advice to police, related agencies, and the general public on criminal matters
• Reviewing information, drafting indictments and other documents, including facta
• Assisting in the administration of the Crown Attorney's Office
• Assisting other counsel with prosecutions, research, etc.
What you bring to the team
Mandatory requirements
• Membership in good standing as a lawyer with the Law Society of Ontario
Technical Legal Experience
• Demonstrated knowledge of the Criminal Code of Canada, Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, criminal law procedures, rules of evidence and case laws
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the role and function of a prosecutor in the criminal justice system in Ontario
• Experience in prosecutions at the Ontario Court of Justice
Other Essential Skills
• Proven judgement and analytical ability to determine appropriate legal remedies
• Proven research and analytical ability to organize a principled approach to cases and issues
• Proven oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
