About the job
In this role, you will:
• Oversee the execution of strategic plans, policy development, and program delivery.
• Lead evidence-based policy and program development activities.
• Offer expertise and advice on issue resolution and strategic business planning.
• Maintain awareness of trends, and coordinate responses to emerging policy needs.
• Oversee a team of negotiators, set strategic priorities, coordinate assignments, and provide leadership and mentoring.
• Build and maintain critical relationships with stakeholders.

Stakeholder Management:
You can:
• Lead consultations and negotiations with internal and external stakeholders
• Discuss and resolve competing policy and program-related issues
• Explain policy/program positions and promote strategic initiatives to stakeholders
• Develop policies and issues resolution based on the competing interests of stakeholders
Policy and Program Experience:
You have knowledge of:
• Policy and program development principles and techniques and government decision-making processes
• Intergovernmental policies and procedures impacting social service delivery
• Program analysis and evaluation techniques to evaluate the effectiveness of new/changed policies and programs
You can:
• Lead and coordinate policy and program delivery and development
• Develop implementation plans and accountability frameworks
Communication and Advisory Skills:
You can:
• Provide advice, expertise and direction to stakeholders and senior management on legislation, policy, and program services
• Prepare reports, options papers, briefing material and correspondence
Research and Analytical Skills:
You can:
• Plan and lead research studies and evaluate best practices, options, costs and impacts
• Research and develop policy and service design/program options and recommendations using system and financial modelling and impact analysis
• Lead the evaluation of existing services, programs and delivery models to determine effectiveness
Project Management and Leadership:
You can:
• Manage the implementation of the strategic plan
• Ensure business objectives are completed on time
• Provide team leadership including assigning tasks, work planning, providing guidance and mentorship, reviewing work progress, etc.
