Are you seeking an exciting opportunity in a high-profile environment where you can provide input and advice on municipal finance in Ontario? Bring your analytical, research, policy analysis and stakeholder management skills to the Municipal Funding Policy Branch at the Ministry of Finance.

The Municipal Funding Policy Branch is responsible for providing oversight and advice on fiscal arrangements with municipalities. The branch designs and delivers municipal funding programs, including the Ontario Municipal Partnership Fund (OMPF), the government's main general assistance grant to municipalities.

About the job

In this role, you will:
• Undertake policy research and analysis in support of a range of projects and initiatives
• Monitor and analyze issues, conduct cross-sectorial analysis, environmental scans, risk analysis and needs assessments
• Provide policy and program support to senior management
• Assist in preparing analytical reports, briefing materials, contentious issues notes and other correspondence
• Review and analyze Cabinet and Management board submissions

Policy Expertise

• You have experience with policy and legislative processes
• You have experience with program development and implementation
• You have experience in using policy and research tools, methods and techniques

Research, Evaluation and Analytical Skills

• You can contribute to the development of innovative programs, implementation plans and standards/guidelines.
• You demonstrate sound judgment, sensitivity and a high degree of political acuity
• You can demonstrate ability to conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis to evaluate findings, and present research analysis.
• You can model options, interpret research, and apply policy, procedures and legislation

Relationship Management and Facilitation Skill

• You have expertise in creating and managing stakeholder relationships
• You can consult and provide appropriate advice on policies, standards and programs to stakeholders

Planning and Organizational Skills

• You can plan, organize, and manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines
• You can synthesize information from a variety of sources to prepare policy papers, reports, presentations, briefing notes, issue notes for review my ministry senior management.
• You can work independently and as part of a team to plan research projects, conduct analysis and summarize findings.

Communication Skills

• You can respond to issues, provide recommendations and prepare reports using standard computer software
• You can create, lead and present research findings to senior management
