The Statistical Modelling and Trending Unit is looking for performance-driven and innovative professionals to bring their proven expertise in statistical analysis, project management, and communication to the following available positions:

• Statistical Research Coordinator (1)
• Senior Statistical and Research Analyst (1)

The Branch

The Education Analytics Branch (EAB) supports the analysis and dissemination of data by developing reports and tools for public, school board and ministry use to inform policy development, instructional practice, and system management. EAB works with ministry-wide stakeholders to broaden the use of analytics in the ministry and is the central point of contact for other jurisdictions concerning education statistics.

About the job

You will:

• Provide strategic advice, evaluation and recommendations to senior management on a range of statistical analysis, educational issues and data
• Provide project leadership, coaching and guidance to staff
• Develop, prepare and present reports, analysis and briefing materials for senior management and stakeholders
• Conduct in-depth analysis of data to meet ministry requirements.
• Plan and lead complex research studies to address issues, inform ministry policy and program development

What you bring to the team


Research, Analysis and Project Management Skills

• You have knowledge of research and statistical analysis techniques and methodologies to analyze large and complex data and interpret results.
• You have demonstrated strong technical skills to assess analytical needs, anticipate complex issues and develop options and recommendations.
• You have project management skills and experience to plan and lead analytical projects and provide guidance to project teams.

Communication, Consultation and Facilitation Skills

• You have effective oral and written communication skills to present complex information to non-technical users in a clear manner and to prepare reports and briefing materials to represent the ministry in working groups.
• You have consultation and facilitation skills to provide leadership and expert advice to senior management, other ministries and stakeholders to support policy initiatives.
• You have advisory and negotiation skills to work cooperatively with stakeholders and team members and provide advice to meet business needs.

Technical Expertise

• You have knowledge of and experience with statistical theory and analytical techniques.
• You have knowledge of data modelling principles, methods, and applications.
• You have experience in working with large databases.
• You have experience using standard software programs, statistical software (e.g. SAS) and data processing products and services to conduct data management and analysis.

Program Knowledge

• You can acquire knowledge of the mandates, programs, policy directions and business trends of the Ministry of Education and the Ontario education system.
