About Us:The Children, Youth and Social Services I&IT Cluster (CYSSC) works with Ministry divisions to provide advice and expertise on information technology solutions and services that advance the digital agenda. The CYSSC maintains and operates information technology solutions that support the business and mandate of the Ministry and works closely with partners in the IT enterprise to deliver on key ministry priorities, while aligning with the overall technology direction of the OPS.

About the job
As the Senior User Experience Designer, you will:
• facilitate a variety of design-thinking workshops and innovation sessions
• focus research on understanding user expectations, behaviors, and needs to ensure design decisions do benefit the user
• perform user interviews, contextual inquiries, and business model canvas activities
• develop user personas to paint an overview of a target user outlining their journey/workflow, needs, and goals
• translate concepts into wireframes, low and high-fidelity mock-ups that lead to intuitive user experiences providing a rough outline of the screen and outlining key activities
• take a user-centered design approach and rapidly test and iterate your designs
What you bring to the team
Experience Design Expertise
You have:
• human-centered design expertise in developing and executing strategies that improve the overall user interactions with digital products and services, resulting in measurable improvements and positive user feedback
• led the design of complex digital services from concept to production and you can draw on your expertise to develop and maintain a high bar for user experience standards and performance measures
• the ability to develop service design blueprints in conjunction with customer journey maps
• the ability to prioritize generative user research and promote continuous user validation as early and as frequent as possible
Digital Expertise and Project Management Skills
You have:
• the ability to undertake and lead parts of complex projects of different sizes, ensuring alignment to project plans and best practice and incorporating user centered design processes and methodologies
• knowledge of and experience with current web trends, and standards like the Ontario Digital Service, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act and WCAG 2.1 AA, and FIPPA (Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act)
Analytical and Research Skills
You can:
• work with management or colleagues to anticipate and resolve project issues
• research industry best practices to support the development of strategy and standards, and to apply them your work (e.g. security and accessibility by design)
• transform ideas generated through user research and analysis to create a better user experience. Assist with developing KPIs and metrics to measure progress and impact of the experience
Communication, Negotiation and Interpersonal Skills
You can:
• be a strong commitment to customer service excellence, teamwork and collaboration
• be a team player who can navigate complex environments and situations, balance a variety of viewpoints and mobilize multiple actors to achieve consensus, generate support and produce meaningful outcomes
