Join our team as a Lead Database Administrator/Architect within the Operations, Maintenance & Support Branch (OMSB) for the Labour and Transportation I&IT Cluster. You'll lead a dynamic team to design, implement, and maintain Oracle databases in the Azure cloud, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. About the job

You will:
• provide technical expertise on database architecture, modelling, and administration
• lead the design, implementation and maintenance of databases to support the delivery of services for client ministries
• translate clients' goals and objectives into specifications for the definition, development, implementation and ongoing maintenance of data architectures
• monitor database performance and determine where enhancements, reorganizations and fine-tuning are needed

What you bring to the team

Database and architecture expertise:

You have knowledge of:
• Information management architecture and engineering methodologies, tools, techniques; database management systems design, data and information architecture development; logical and physical data modelling and data warehousing concepts and practices
• Oracle/ RDBMS solutions on RedHat Enterprise Linux, Relational Database Design, Oracle Tools, Real Application Clusters (RAC), Golden Gate, Data Guard, Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), Oracle Advanced Security (ASO) & Data Encryption
• Database administration (e.g., data planning, database structure design and data management practices, diagnostics and performance tuning, backup and restore databases)
• Azure cloud VM, storage, networking, security and administration

Analytical and conceptual skills:

You can:
• perform root cause analysis of and identify solutions to technical problems
• apply analytical thinking and reasoning skills to application database design, development, implementation and maintenance
• conceptualize and evaluate client business requirements and make recommendations on databases and architectures

Communication and leadership skills:

You can:
• consult and build effective working relationships with clients, vendors, and technical/project staff
• communicate policies, standard, processes and recommendations in plain language
• provide direction, training and mentorship to teammates

Project management and planning skills:

You have:
• experience leading projects to from end-to-end, including developing business cases, project plans, time, cost and resource estimates, assigning work, and monitoring performance
• strong planning skills to coordinate all technical activities related to databases and architecture
