The Branch

Facilities Management Branch provides services for MAG's facilities portfolio, which includes: strategic oversight of MAG's portfolio; development of standards, guidelines and best practices to support ministry and government directions; development of MAG's annual Infrastructure Plan and 10-year long term plan to secure funding for the ministry's facility renewal program; management of the lease administration for all space (whether government-owned or leased) occupied by MAG; leading MAG participation in new courthouse development projects, ensuring that the ministry's requirements are defined and incorporated at all stages; undertaking planning activities to develop new Public Private Partnership (P3) courthouse projects; service management of Infrastructure Ontario in its role as mandatory real estate service provider.

About the job

You will:
• Lead the development and delivery of the ministry's asset management plan
• Provide strategic planning, coordination and consultation with ministry clients, stakeholders and partners
• Provide strategic advice and recommendations to senior management on asset management and capital planning
• Plan and coordinate research projects
• Conduct jurisdictional scans to inform and support infrastructure planning and management
• Develop performance measures; and
• Plan, lead and monitor capital project opportunities and funding requests

What you bring to the team


Technical Knowledge:

• You have knowledge of principles and practices of infrastructure and asset management planning
• You have knowledge of government facilities management policies and procedures to review capital project proposals and business cases
• You have knowledge of ministry programs and policies to provide analysis on realty needs, statuses and cost estimates to assist with management decision making
• You have knowledge of financial forecasting models, analysis tools, and financial management policies and procedures to compare current and future capital project costs

Research and Analysis Skills:

• You have knowledge of statistical theories, principles and practices to perform needs analysis, interpret trends and forecast future requirements for the ministry
• You have knowledge of business planning and organizational techniques to plan and conduct research to identify client needs and provide recommendations to senior management
• You can analyze capital project proposals and business cases
• You can research and synthesize data from multiple sources to propose infrastructure initiatives

Communication and Consultation Skills:

• You can provide advice and recommendations to senior management on real estate property, lease trends, asset management and infrastructure planning.
• You have communication skills to develop briefing materials, reports, business cases and presentations for senior management
• You are proficient in computer software such as spreadsheets, word processing, database information systems, graphics and desktop publishing

Project Management and Planning Skills:

• You have project management skills to lead multiple research studies and reviews
• You can lead and develop an asset management plan to support capital planning and financial forecasting
