About the job
• Lead planning and development work teams of stakeholders to determine technical learning outcomes for OFM curricula which meet the published
occupational standards developed for fires services and other first responders
• Design and implement procedures and guidelines for assessing long term impacts of educational courses on the level of fire protection in the province
•Design educational programs including curricula, course materials and facilitators' manuals, self-directed study and e-learning
• Ensure consistent process and delivery of education and training to stakeholder groups
• Contribute to the design and implementation of certification systems for fire services occupations and other professional staff
• Pilot new course material to ensure development is prepared in accordance with fire service needs
• Perform quality assurance tasks to ensure OFM curricula and course material is being delivered in accordance with development standards and intent.
What you bring to the team
Educational Knowledge and Program Learning Experience:
You have:
• Knowledge of educational program planning principles, adult education theories, principles and practices, and curriculum design for classroom and alternate format learning
• Knowledge of occupational analysis and occupational certification to design job performance standards, and design and develop associated certification processes
• Knowledge of learning and learning program effectiveness assessment to determine levels of learner satisfaction, behavioural change, impact, etc
• Knowledge of recognized educational testing, measurement and evaluation practices to measure validity and reliability of skills/ performance testing, and test item construction
• Knowledge of fire service best practices and operations
Communication (oral and written), Consultation and Stakeholder Skills:
• You have demonstrated communications to develop and present training program documents such as reports, training program plans, instructional materials, training evaluation tools, communiques, etc
• You possess consulting and advisory skills to provide advice to OFM sections on training/education initiatives
• You have demonstrated team and stakeholder relations skills to develop rapport and lead curricula development
Computer Skills:
• You have knowledge of computer applications for reports, presentations, correspondence and use of data based systems
Planning, Project Management and Training Skills:
• You have planning and project management methodologies to conduct training curricula design and development projects
• You possess training and presentation techniques to provide direction/guidance to associate instructors, and provide course instruction
Analytical, Research and Problem solving Skills:
• You can research print, audio-visual and web-based information in order to assess relevance, revise or develop education materials
• You can analyze and evaluate potential professional development initiatives, conduct educational needs analysis
• You can assess educational materials developed against educational standards
