About the job

In this role, you will:
• design and develop data management structures and large-scale database administration
• provide data management expertise in the development of information technology plans and strategies
• develop methodologies, techniques, and tools for reactive and proactive, and manual and automated database performance monitoring
• troubleshoot and repair problems arising from mission-critical production databases
• lead corporate projects for building, maintaining corporate data model, database design or developing Windows-based and Unix-based database systems
• develop and implement policies, standards, and procedures for management and use of ministry data
• evaluate and recommend technical design features and alternatives to ensure proper procedures for backup, recovery, and security of all ministry databases
• propose cost-effective use of new database products, data modelling tools and application development

What you bring to the team

Technology Knowledge

You have:
• knowledge of information engineering methodologies, tools, techniques, and database management system design, information architecture, data modelling, database design and warehousing concepts and practices
• knowledge of Windows -based computer system technologies, understanding of database management using Windows operating system, and knowledge of data management and applications software
• knowledge of database development methodology, programming languages, database concepts, data types, data dictionaries, and data storage and retrieval techniques
• knowledge and experience in coding, testing and implementation of SQL, PL/SQL, triggers, stored procedures and others
• You have proven knowledge and experience in supporting, administration and tuning of all versions of SQL Server database
• knowledge of Windows system administration, and database and system backup and recovery
• knowledge of Windows host scripting, Visual Studio and .NET programming, database replication, and enterprise backup and recovery solutions
• the ability to prepare technical documentation and build books, and provide technical support
• proficiency in using testing tools and test, and implement the solution to various environment

Analytical, Research and Problem-Solving Skills

You can:
• review and analyze data management issues, concerns, and initiatives
• research and analyze data management requirements such as integrity, security, and recovery issues
• develop recommendations on database design and data organization
• analyze and develop proposals for data management component of information technology plan
• develop technical design features and alternatives
• identify components subject to data corruption
• assess, evaluate and recommend new methods, technologies and techniques

Communication and Interpersonal Skills

You can:
• prepare reports, briefs and papers on database management policies and standards
• explain technical solutions and deliver presentation on data management and information technology plans and strategies to technical and non-technical audiences
• discuss database design with client groups
• negotiate provision of services or acquisition of hardware and software with vendors
