About the job
In this role, you will:
• Design, develop, test, implement and oversee IT systems
• Collect and analyze data to identify areas for improvement within an organization's IT infrastructure
• Review existing IT systems and internal processes
• Develop quality assurance procedures and tests for the development and improvement of new and existing systems
• Perform preventive maintenance tasks on computer systems.
• Develop quality assurance procedures and tests for the development and improvement of new and existing systems
• Provide leadership and conduct review of client requests for IT infrastructure solution in data centers across the province and assess/determine the priority/complexity of all infrastructure build integration project work
• Assist clients with determining information technology solutions to resolve their business problems
• Provide technical leadership in the evaluation of the latest releases of software and hardware to determine applicability to ongoing maintenance projects and in current or future applications, and in the planning, designing and development of options to meet client business requirements
• Conduct feasibility studies into new areas of technology and make recommendations
• Provide advice/expertise in acquisition or development of software and hardware
• Coordinate services and/or consult with vendors and IT support specialists
• Prepare RFPs, conduct product tendering, evaluation, selection and acquisition, and negotiate servicing/acquisition contracts
• Provide leadership and expertise in the planning, coordinating and implementing of new hardware and software
• Provide guidance and leadership to other staff/team members and provide training

What you bring to the team
Mandatory requirements
• You have a valid driver's licence with the ability to travel to various office locations.
Technical Knowledge and Skills
You have demonstrated:
• experience with Wintel infrastructure, including the design, deployment, and optimization of large Windows Server environments (400+ hosts) on Intel-based platforms to support enterprise workloads
• expertise in virtualized infrastructure at scale of 700+ VMs, based on VMware vSphere or Nutanix AHV
• hands-on experience with HCI solutions (Nutanix or Cisco Hyperflex), and design of platforms optimized for graphics-intensive and compute-heavy workloads
• knowledge of GPU passthrough, virtual desktop infrastructure (Citrix, VMware Horizon), and high IOPS storage
• knowledge and skills in enterprise backup, DR planning, system monitoring, and ensuring high availability and compliance
• knowledge and skills in infrastructure lifecycle planning, including assessments, capacity planning, system migrations, and performance tuning
• familiarity with ITIL service delivery, change management, and incident/problem resolution workflows
• knowledge of aligning desktop and end-user services with enterprise platforms, ensuring consistent and secure access to infrastructure and cloud-based systems
• working knowledge of data center physical requirements, including basic power and cooling considerations, and how they impact server and rack deployments
• familiarity with structured cabling best practices, including basic patching, labeling, and physical layout coordination to support clean and efficient environments
• collaboration with facilities and operations teams to ensure that physical infrastructure can support planned system deployments and upgrades
You have demonstrated knowledge and skills in Active Directory (AD) architecture and management, including:
• forest/domain design, Group Policy, OU structuring, role-based access, and secure federation
• DDI services (DNS, DHCP, IPAM) and hybrid identity integration, such as InfoBlox DDI
• implementation of secure authentication protocols, MFA, and conditional access policies
• AD support of distributed systems and mission-critical workloads
You have experience managing end-user computing environments, including:
• Windows desktop OS image design and deployment, patch management, and policy enforcement using tools such as Microsoft
Endpoint Configuration Manager (SCCM) or Intune
• Desktop virtualization, remote access (VPN/RDS/VDI), and secure provisioning for business and mission-critical applications
• Application packaging, software distribution, and hardware lifecycle coordination
• Support and policy management for endpoint security, encryption, and mobile device management (MDM)
You have knowledge of networking fundamentals, including:
• knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, NAT, VPNs, and firewall/security rules
• understanding of network performance considerations for virtualized and cloud-based systems, including latency, QoS, and
segmentation
• foundational Linux skills, Interoperability between Linux and Windows systems within hybrid infrastructures
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills
You can:
• identify, and evaluate infrastructure solution options for clients, and design, develop and implement technology solutions
• identify and analyze the root-cause of the incident/problem, and assess the severity and potential impact
• implement, effective problem management processes to provide timely technical support and problem resolution, document the result of analysis and prepare reports to management with recommendations
• analyze and evaluate a variety of technology solutions and make recommendations
