About the job
In this role, you will:
• Work directly with partner ministries to provide quantitative, economic, and financial analysis related to existing, new and planned provincially-funded infrastructure.
• Work directly with partner ministries to support major ongoing, cross-government projects including:
- Ontario Builds – a database and public map of provincial infrastructure projects, and,
- Provincial Asset Inventory – a government-wide database of public assets that supports long-term planning
• Use capacity-enhancing tools, data models, and processes to support infrastructure policy and a culture of evidence-based decision-making.
• Support analytical advice to capital ministries on enhancing their long-term infrastructure planning, needs forecasting, business case development and performance measures.
What you bring to the team
Economic Analysis and Research:
• You have strong data analysis and/or economic research skills to evaluate, summarize and synthesize infrastructure-related data.
• You can use analytical, economic, statistical or geospatial methods to create technical reports and develop recommendations for management.
• You have analytical skills involving a range of qualitative and quantitative factors and can analyze trends, and other jurisdictions' sector developments and assess policy impacts.
• You can obtain knowledge of infrastructure planning and budget processes, for example, using data to identify trends and inform your analytical efforts.
• You can draw on your experiences to propose and implement new ideas toward completing analytical and research tasks.
Technical Knowledge and Skills:
• You have knowledge of public finance, economics, geospatial analysis, statistics, data analysis, business administration or a related discipline to manage quantitative, economic, financial, and strategic advice related to infrastructure policy.
• You have computer-based quantitative skills such as data management and statistical software (for example, advanced MS Excel modelling, GIS, R, SQL, Python or visualization applications) to undertake and interpret analysis, and prepare various communications materials.
Communication Skills
• You can build and maintain positive and trusting working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• You have strong oral and written communication skills to prepare and discuss various and complex written materials.
• You can synthesize complex information into clear and succinct reports for management.
Organizational Skills:
• You can meet deadlines when producing deliverables and can manage long-term initiatives involving a network of stakeholders.
