About the job

• provide technical advice for the branch in strategic and operational planning for information and information management.
• provide advice, tools, monitoring, auditing and training to assist in the implementation of corporate standards and requirements across the branch.
• assist in developing and managing information and information management performance measurement for the branch.
• provide quality control of information holdings through monitoring, auditing, and initiating or recommending corrective measures.
• represent the branch on various divisional, ministry, inter-ministry and information management committees as a participant.
• identify information, information management and technology opportunities and innovation and recommending solutions to improve business efficiencies.
• identify training requirements in the region and recommend customized solutions.

What you bring to the team

Eligibility:

• Have graduated or will graduate from an approved or legally authorized college or university with a degree, postgraduate certificate or diploma between May 2021 and June 2025.
• Are not currently an MNR intern or have not been an MNR intern in the past.
• Must not be a permanent OPS employee.
• Are legally entitled to work in Canada.

Skills & Expertise:

• project management skills to manage, coordinate, and take part in project teams in support of initiatives and program directives; to conduct systems analysis and design, testing, implementation and training
• analytical, problem-solving, and innovation skills to assess and assist in the development of a cost-effective information management solutions that meet client needs and improves program/service delivery
• knowledge of information management legislation, concepts, policies, procedures and planning processes, including the theory and principles of data architecture, modelling, administration, standards, quality assurance, performance measurement
• knowledge of theory and principles of systems design and development to manage teams in the analysis and definition of client business and information technology requirements including design, development, implementation and testing of systems and solutions
• knowledge of information management technology, including hardware, operating systems, networks and applications (databases, GIS products) applications, and network systems, tools and training to assist staff in effectively managing information
• interpersonal and communications skills, conflict resolution and negotiation skills to provide clear and concise advice and support on branch information management and technology needs and solutions
