The Provincial and Demonstration Schools Branch is seeking a Superintendent, Demonstration Schools and Curriculum to join the senior team supporting school and student lodging operations, staff development, and student achievement and well-being.
The Superintendent of Education position is fixed term and is initially available on a 24-month basis with the possibility of extension. The position is open to Ontario Public Service, Provincial Schools Authority and Ontario School Board personnel as a secondment/temporary assignment opportunity. Some travel, as needed, between sites is required for this position.
The position includes responsibility for schools and student lodging programs as well as other portfolios related to operations, student achievement and well being. The portfolio will focus on Demonstration Schools' program and operations and curriculum and capacity development programs for the system.

In this role, you will:
• Foster a culture of service, trust, and mutual respect focused on student success with staff, students, families, union partners, and stakeholders.
• Oversee schools, student lodging programs, and other portfolios, ensuring alignment with system goals and values.
• Promote continuous improvement for service excellence to support student achievement and well-being in Demonstration Schools, District School Boards, and the Learning Services curriculum support team.
• Build and coach system support teams to train and support staff in line with strategic priorities.
• Develop and monitor strategic priorities and improvement plans that prioritize student-centered decision-making and excellence in teaching and learning.
• Align programs and supports with current research and evidence-based practices.
• Collaborate with the senior management team and union partners, modeling and supporting collaborative professionalism.
• Lead, develop, and provide feedback on legislative and policy initiatives.
What you bring to the team
Mandatory requirements:
• You must be a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers
• You must have a Supervisory Officer Certificate or be in the process of completing it
• You must have awareness of the ASL community/culture and Deaf community/culture
Preferred Qualifications and Capacities:
• Special Education Specialist qualification
• Reading Specialist qualifications
• Math Part 1 additional qualification
• Qualifications in all divisions (primary, junior, intermediate and senior) would be an asset.
• Effective ASL communications skills are an asset.
Leadership Experience:
• Preferred candidates will have elementary and/or secondary education leadership experience, preferably with a concentration in Special Education, and ideally with students who identify as Deaf, Hard of Hearing or Blind, low vision, Deafblind, or with a severe learning disability.
• You are an inclusive leader who values, promotes and creates a culture of diversity, inclusion, accessibility, and equity with a deep understanding of students with disabilities/special education needs.
• You build collaborative, proactive, focused, and motivated teams
• You inspire a passion for excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.
• You can lead staff in a unionized environment and have experience working with collective agreements.
• You develop strategic action plans and demonstrate project management skills to set goals, meet deadlines, and measure progress.
