About the job
In this role you will:
• Assist in coordinating the day-to-day park operations of the campground and/or beach, including all administrative and
maintenance, and cleaning functions, e.g., scheduling, assigning work, monitoring, and auditing work performance.
• Provide group leadership to park staff in the Park Ranger's absence, assign and monitor work, provide training, promote high levels
of customer service, and participate in the review of staff performance.
• Provide a variety of park maintenance services such as cutting grass, painting, performing repairs, cleaning park facilities, etc.
• Ensure proper procedures are followed, completing a variety of reports, and reporting immediately any potential hazards or needed
repairs and taking corrective action.
• Help train, supervise, and identify performance and misconduct issues for seasonal staff and students, advising management of
any issues.
• Help administer the park enforcement program, respond to emergencies, and ensure staff follow proper security procedures and
ensure the safety of visitors and staff.
• Assist with special events and support other campgrounds, as directed by the Parks Management Team.
• Help lead and coordinate all aspects of store concessions and oversee the supervision, tracking and operation of retail and
canteen concessions.

What you bring to the team
Mandatory
• You must have a valid class ‘G' driver's licence or equivalent, as recognized by the Province of Ontario. An offer of employment
is conditional upon the successful candidate providing proof that they have a valid driver's licence.
• You have the ability to be designated as a Provincial Offences Officer and meet certification criteria and standards to be
designated as an Officer.
• You possess or have the ability to obtain First Aid and CPR certification.
• You possess or have the ability to obtain Smart Serve certification.
• You possess or have the ability to obtain Safe Food Handling certification.
• A willingness and ability to work variable shifts including evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
You have:
•Knowledge of park operations and ability to maintain the accessibility and functionality of the campground by providing direction related to maintenance, educational programming, day-use, campground, beaches, enforcement and registration.
•You possess knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply relevant acts, regulations (e.g., St. Lawrence Parks Commission Act and Trespass to Property Act) policies and principles related to resource management, park management and purchasing, as well as public health and workplace safety.
•Knowledge and experience with grounds and buildings maintenance, general construction, and trails maintenance and semi-skilled tasks usually associated with skilled trades such as, carpentry, plumbing, and electrical.
•Ability to operate and maintain a variety of light powered equipment (e.g. chainsaws, brush cutters, lawnmowers, utility terrain vehicles (UTV), tractors and small hand tools, etc.).
•The ability to promote, foster and support a safe working environment for all staff that includes working in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act, its regulations, and the Employer's occupational health and safety policies, procedures, and guidelines when performing supervisory responsibilities.
LEADERSHIP AND ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS

• Leadership, interpersonal and team building skills to provide leadership, monitor performance
and promote excellence in customer service and team performance.
• The ability to provide support in planning and coordinating daily activities of staff to ensure operational needs are met.
• The ability to motivate, train and work as a team member.
JUDGMENT AND DECISION-MAKING SKILLS
You have:
• Strong judgement, decision-making, and critical thinking skills to identify and analyze operational issues and challenges and provide recommendations and implement solutions to ensure compliance to park regulations, resolve complaints and recognize dangerous situations and determine the appropriate course of action e.g. disengage and request assistance.
• The ability to assist in planning, developing and leading park operations in the absence of the Park Ranger by identifying priorities, setting targets, determining objectives, and coordinating resources.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently and use good judgement to follow and carry out instructions, manage emergencies and identify/solve problems and determine the appropriate course of action.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS
You have:
• Communication skills to enforce park rules and regulations and to provide accurate information to staff, service providers and visitors.
• Communication skills (oral and written) to prepare reports and correspondence regarding park operations and respond to customer inquiries and complaints tactfully and with discretion in a timely manner, as directed by the Parks Management Team. The ability to motivate, train and work as a team member.
ADMINISTRATIVE, FINANCIAL AND COMPUTER SKILLS
You have:
• Knowledge of computer software to process reservations and prepare a variety of reports.
• Knowledge of administrative procedures to provide support to the Park Ranger in the daily operations of the park.
• Cash handling and mathematical skills to process sales and reservations, review/balance receipts and shift summaries, and complete deposits.
