To succeed in this role, you will:
- Oversee and support a team of 13 staff, fostering an inclusive and engaged work environment.
- Work collaboratively across work units, regions, and the Ministry to ensure evidence-based decision-making.
- Lead the planning and delivery of effective programs, ensuring quality service and compliance with legislation, regulations, and policies.
- Develop work plans, managing issues, creating communication strategies, and advising senior ministry management.
- Establish and maintain relationships with internal and external clients and partners.
- Lead consultation programs with local communities and partners on land use and natural resource management projects.
Please note:- This role requires travel within the Pembroke District and occasional travel across the region for meetings.
- This position follows a hybrid work model, requiring three days per week in the Pembroke office (31 Riverside Dr.). Hybrid work arrangements are subject to change.
Meet Your New TeamReporting to the District Manager, you will work closely with another supervisor to oversee district operations and program delivery. Collaboration is at the heart of what we do. We take a cross-functional approach to resource management, working with colleagues across the district, region, and ministry to drive meaningful outcomes.
You will be joining the leadership team within the Regional Operations Division (ROD), which is responsible for delivering provincial resource management programs at both local and regional levels. In the Southern Region, we oversee a diverse landscape that includes the Great Lakes' shorelines, forests, and wetlands. Our work supports economic and recreational activities such as forestry, fishing, and conservation.

- Ability to learn or demonstrated experience in applying human resources practices, policies, directives, and collective agreements in relation to recruitment, training, development, and labor relations.
- Proven supervisory skills to assign/direct work of staff and set priorities and expectations.
Technical Knowledge
- Knowledgeable in, or ability to learn about, resource management principles and practices to manage the development and implementation of options/recommendations supporting land use and natural resource management and compliance programs.
- Ability to interpret and apply relevant resource management strategic directions, legislation, guidelines, policies and procedures.
- Experience in defining problems, developing, and implementing solutions, and formulating realistic recommendations for effective delivery of a broad range of programs and services.
Relationship Management, Negotiations and Communication Skills
- Demonstrated collaboration skills to develop linkages with key internal and external networks and stakeholders for various land/resource management programs and initiatives.
- Proven negotiation and facilitation skills to serve as a liaison and balance diverse interests in support of Ministry programs.
- Well-developed communication skills to provide recommendations, advice, and prepare reports, briefing/background notes, and responses to various correspondences.
Analytical and Project Management Skills
- Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve complex resource management issues.
- Effective project management skills to coordinate, resource, and plan the delivery of various projects and programs. Ability to manage and control allocated financial resources.
- Possess sound judgment to evaluate project priorities, allocate resources efficiently, anticipate and resolve issues, and escalate them to the senior manager as required.
