The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) is a regulatory agency that reports to the Ministry of the Attorney General. The AGCO is responsible for regulating the alcohol, gaming, horseracing, and cannabis retail sectors in Ontario, in accordance with the principles of honesty and integrity, and in the public interest.

The Communications and Service Experience Division of the AGCO is seeking a dynamic and strategicSocial Media Advisor to join our Communications Branch. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the agency's social media channels, while also keeping a pulse on the broader social media landscape. You will be a key player in the development and execution of social media strategies, utilizing insights from changing trends to recommend approaches that align with AGCO's objectives. Under the direction of Senior Manager, Issues Management and Media Relations, the Social Media Advisor will also lead proactive content campaigns, coordinate timely responses, and drive meaningful engagement with stakeholders and the public, all while enhancing the AGCO brand and supporting our organizational reputation. As one of three members of the Media Relations & Issues Management team within the Communications and Service Experience Division, the Social Media Advisor will also assist in responding to media inquiries as necessary.

About the job

The successful candidate will:
• Support the development and execution of social media strategies to achieve business objectives.
• Develop a strong understanding of current and emerging social media conversations and trends.
• Develop and execute social media campaigns to support overarching Integrated Corporate Communications (ICC) objectives and key results (OKRs).
• Assist in the development of and functional adherence to the AGCO's social media Policy and Procedures across the agency.
• Review social media analytics, on a regular basis, including AGCO platforms and external platforms through social listening scans, to measure the effectiveness of content and continuously improve digital products and campaigns.
• Analyze social media data and engagement metrics to provide meaningful insight to Senior Management to improve campaigns or products.
•Liaise with the Sr. Manager and the Sr. Communications Advisor, Issues Management and Media Relations to monitor and provide updates regarding emerging trends and/or conversations in the social media space with potential impact on the AGCO's public profile.
•Conduct social listening scans across the wider social media landscape to gauge level, tone, and content of public discourse with potential impact on the agency's corporate reputation.
•Liaise with sister agencies and stakeholders as appropriate to collaborate on amplification of social media content.

What you bring to the team

The ideal candidate will have:

• University degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field and/or relevant experience in social media or digital
design.
• At least 5 years of experience in social media management, media relations, or related fields.
• Expertise with social media platforms, especially Twitter (X), Instagram, and LinkedIn, and a strong understanding of best practices.
• Proficiency with analytics platforms, such as Google Analytics, to evaluate social media performance and impact.
• Experience in quantitative and qualitative research and social media analytics, including data collection, analysis, and
interpretation.
• Strong written and oral communication skills for creating engaging content and interacting with stakeholders.
• Advanced graphic design skills for creating compelling and visually appealing social media content (e.g., tiles, posts,
etc.).
• Proficiency in software tools like Adobe Creative Suite, Dreamweaver, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and content
management systems (CMS).
• Ability to work under tight deadlines, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and make sound strategic decisions.
• Strong problem-solving skills to quickly address emerging issues, mitigate risks, and ensure timely responses in line with AGCO's social media guidelines.
• The successful candidate must be eligible to work in Canada and will be subject to a criminal background check.
