About the job

Working with a dynamic team, you will:
• assist in the production of design projects by interpreting data and determining extent of design work, preparing contract documentation and preparing correspondence and reports
• make highway design recommendations related to such elements as horizontal and vertical alignment layouts, etc.
• carry out detailed design drainage studies
• use computer software to prepare roadway designs and related plans
• assist in preparing final contract and tender documents
• calculate quantities and cost estimates
• support senior designers and project management staff in reviewing corridor management issues

Please note: fieldwork is a requirement of this position

What you bring to the team

Technical Skills

• You have demonstrated knowledge with civil engineering in the application of highway planning, design and construction to assist in the delivery of the capital construction program.
• You have solid mathematical abilities to do estimations.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills

• You have communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with stakeholders and to prepare written documents.

Analytical Skills

• You have analytical and evaluative skills to assess designs and develop alternatives.

Computer Skills

• You are proficient with computer applications, including computer aided drawing and design (CADD), and highway design systems.
