About the job
As a member of the AFFES team, you will take charge of procuring forest fire equipment across the province. Every day will be a little different, but you can expect it to include activities like:
• preparing budget submissions, reconciling transactions and processing invoices and expenses.
• providing human resource support by overseeing the completion of hiring documents, certificates and WSIB reports.
• providing procurement support and fleet management services.
• providing group leadership and training to office administration and support staff.
• responding to enquiries and providing quality customer service to internal and external clients.
• performing a variety of administrative functions (e.g. composing and proof reading documents, coordinating meetings, etc.)
Please note: This position requires onsite presence at the Thunder Bay office five (5) days per week.
What you bring to the team
Financial and Administrative Support Skills
You have:
• experience coordinating financial activities (e.g. budget administration, resource allocation, financial reporting)
• knowledge of policies and procedures relating to procurement of goods/services.
• experience providing a wide range of administrative support services (records management and retention, correspondence tracking, fleet management etc.).
• proficient computer skills (e.g. word-processing, spreadsheets, database, internet, e-mail, etc.)
Group Leadership and Communication Skills
You have:
• leadership skills to assign work, provide training and administrative direction to seasonal staff in a team environment.
• effective oral communication skills to provide advice, train staff and prepare presentations.
• effective written communication skills to prepare a variety of correspondence and reports, as well as to proofread documents for accuracy.
Human Resources Support
You can:
• interpret and apply policies, procedures and guidelines (e.g. collective agreements) to provide human resources support to managers.
• assist with human resources administration activities such as staff scheduling and payroll reporting.
Analytical and Organizational Skills
You can:
• review and interpret complex financial reports, identify and resolve accounting issues.
• resolve discrepancies with vendors and clients and prioritize issues.
• effectively respond to a high volume of diverse challenges and demands and to meet deadlines during escalated situations.
• plan and perform tasks with minimal supervision and work independently to meet work priorities.
