About the job

As a member of an integrated area economic development team, you will:

• Provide advisory and consultative services to economic and social organizations, municipal leaders and businesses
• Participate in the development, coordination and delivery of programs and initiatives in the north
• Prepare briefing materials, reports and responses to inquiries from associations, stakeholders, the public and internal staff
• Establish linkages and maintain on-going relationships with stakeholders and other partners
• Manage projects and undertake research and analysis

What you bring to the team

Mandatory requirements

• Valid driver's license to travel to remote areas that may be inaccessible by other means of transportation
• You must possess oral French language skills at the advanced level. Your proficiency level will be confirmed before hire

Specialized Knowledge

• You understand provincial and federal programs related to economic and community development and sector issues and trends.
• You have knowledge of business development/planning, funding approval processes and financial and accounting principles and practices to understand business feasibility and project proposals.
• You have knowledge of economic and statistical research and analysis, and economic trends and principles.

Leadership and Project Management Skills

• You have demonstrated leadership and project management skills in leading task teams, coordinating projects, conducting financial analysis, and managing issues.

Research and Analytical Skills

• You have demonstrated research and analytical skills.
• You can review and evaluate project applications.

Communication, Interpersonal and Relationship Management Skills

• You have effective oral and written communication skills to exchange information, make presentations, chair meetings and communicate with clients to resolve problems, and to compose letters, technical reports and presentations.
• You have interpersonal, relationship management and negotiation skills to work with individuals, businesses, groups and organizations.
• You can work independently and participate on multidisciplinary teams.

Computer Skills

• You have experience using computer applications and software including word processing, spreadsheet, database, email and internet.
