The Office of the Chief Justice, Ontario Superior Court of Justice seeks an experienced counsel with expertise as a judicial educator to provide leadership and pedagogical support in all matters relating to judicial education, including the planning, development and delivery of such education and resources, together with the implementation and evaluation of procedures designed to support the delivery of such programs and resources. Including the supervision of approximately 27 articling student law clerks assigned across the court's judicial regions.
About the job
Duties will include:
• Providing pedagogical leadership and support on all educational programming offered by the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, under the direction of the Chief Justice, Associate Chief Justice, Senior Family Justice or Executive Legal Officer and Deputy Executive Legal Officer
• Advising and guiding all matters relating to judicial education, for both judges and associate judges including the planning, development, delivery and evaluation of judicial education, including oversight of the overall curriculum and the introduction and development of educational resources.
• Developing mentoring programs.
• Overseeing the infrastructure of internal judicial education resources.
• Consulting and collaborating with members of the judiciary and education program consultants.
• Assessing the educational needs of the judiciary.
• Developing and maintaining professional relationships with key judicial education organizations, law faculties and others.
• Managing and conducting special research projects
• Preparing and writing education materials for judiciary.
• Providing supervision and oversight to the Superior court of Justice articling student law clerks program assigned across the court's judicial regions and to provide timely, clear and concise advice and opinions to the Chief Justice and other judges of the Superior Court of Justice in all areas of court's administration including criminal, civil, family and administrative areas of law.

• Membership in good standing as a lawyer with the Law Society of Ontario
Knowledge and Skills
• Demonstrated experience in adult education and providing leadership and pedagogical support in all matters relating to judicial education, developing, designing and delivering effective skills-based, experiential education to both judges and associate judges.
• Knowledge of court operations, procedures and practices, together with knowledge of substantive law.
• Demonstrated oral and written communication skills with solid experience writing, researching and presenting detailed reports and materials.
• Demonstrated analytical and research skills and sound judgment with the ability to articulate legal, policy and pedagogical advice clearly and concisely.
• Ability to take initiative, manage work priorities, work quickly, provide effective advice under pressure.
• Ability to interact on a professional level with members of the judiciary, bar, academics, government and non-government organizations and the public.
• Demonstrated computer skills.
• Ability to supervise and provide direction to staff
• Demonstrated project management skills
