The DivisionThe Local Government Division is responsible for the development of policies, legislation and regulations related to municipal government structure, finance and accountability, service delivery, as well as the development of strategies for consultation with municipalities, municipal organizations and client groups. This position is within the Assistant Deputy Minister's Office and will support the coordination of exciting work across the division.
Please note: this position is required to report to and work from the physical work location 777 Bay Street, Toronto for a minimum of three days per week. Current hybrid work arrangements are subject to change.

In this role, you will:
• Manage urgent and complex issues under tight deadlines
• Build strong working relationships with staff in executive offices and with external partners
• Coordinate and prepare reports, briefing notes, letters, presentations, and other materials
• Review and edit content to ensure it's clear, consistent, and accurate
• Research and summarize information on new and emerging issues
What you bring to the team
Technical knowledge
You have:
• Ability to develop knowledge of divisional/ministry policies, programs, mandate and operations
• Ability to acquire and apply knowledge of government decision-making and issues management processes to identify, evaluate and manage issues and politically sensitive matters
• Knowledge of office administrative procedures and practices
Stakeholder relations and communication skills
You can:
• Apply communication and interpersonal skills to develop and coordinate a range of issues materials, explain sensitive issues and be persuasive with a variety of stakeholders
• Understand diverse viewpoints of stakeholders and find appropriate approaches to communications issues
• Review and edit correspondence, and prepare and coordinate briefing and issues notes
Analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills
You have:
• Analytical and problem-solving skills to evaluate, analyze and interpret issues identified by various sources
• Research skills to research and organize information relating to issues management
Project management skills
You can:
• Effectively manage and coordinate a variety of high-profile, sensitive issues/projects
• Consolidate information, and provide timely responses while dealing with competing project priorities
