The Ministry of Health's Health Sector Models Branch is looking for a dynamic, strategic professional to join a team responsible for shaping key decisions that influence the future of Ontario's hospital sector. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a long-term vision of a strong, resilient hospital sector through funding, performance, and planning.

About the job

In this role, you will guide the development and use of funding, planning, and performance approaches to support Ontario's hospital sector now and into the future. You will support the design and implementation of a long-term plan for the hospital sector through grounding decision-making in evidence, shaping supportive policy, and facilitating collaboration with Ministries, partners, and stakeholders.

About Us:
The Health Sector Models Branch enhances Ontario's healthcare system by establishing strategic funding, performance, and accountability frameworks for the hospital sector. We lead sector and agency engagement for planning and performance measurement, collaborating with key stakeholders like Ontario Health (OH) and the Ontario Hospital Association (OHA). Our branch provides divisional leadership for strategic planning, performance, and corporate reporting, supporting integration and a cross-program view to ensure cohesive healthcare management and policy implementation.

What you bring to the team

Industry Knowledge:

You have:
• Demonstrable experience working in the healthcare sector.
• Current knowledge of Ontario's healthcare policy and the health sector landscape.
• A working understanding of the hospital sector planning, funding, and performance.

Policy and Strategic Thinking:

You can:
• Plan, design, and implement strategic policies and initiatives.
• Develop and execute performance frameworks and funding policies.
• Align strategic planning efforts with organizational goals.
• Work cross-functionally with staff and stakeholders to achieve common goals.

Research, Evaluation and Analytical Skills:

You can:
• Support planning, forecasting, and funding decisions through knowledge of financial and technical data analysis.
• Build and manage data models and tools to support strategic decision-making and resource allocation.
• Evaluate programs, policies, and performance to measure impact and recommend improvements.
• Conducts research and analyze trends to support evidence-based decision-making in the hospital sector.

Relationship Management and Facilitation Skills:

• Sound judgment, sensitivity, and a high degree of political acuity.
• Expertise in creating and managing complex stakeholder relationships.
• The ability to work collaboratively to resolve issues, negotiate changes and shifts in priorities.
• Exceptional project management skills.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and consultative capabilities.

Communication Skills

You have:
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Experience responding to issues, providing recommendations, and preparing summary reports.
• Experience creating, leading and presenting briefings on complex issues analysis to senior management.
