About the job
In this role, you will develop, monitor and evaluate complex financial management and funding policies, tools and procedures in the Long Term Care Funding and Programs Branch that drive performance across all long-term care homes in Ontario.
As a Senior Financial Policy Advisor, you will:
•
Lead the development, evaluation, and implementation of strategic financial and funding policies, including best practices, performance standards, and system-wide plans.
•
Conduct research and analysis to support complex policy and program decisions and develop financial indicators and monitoring metrics.
•
Provide expert advice on financial policy, contribute to electronic financial systems, and communicate insights through reports and presentations to senior leadership.
•
Build strong partnerships and lead consultations with key partners across the health system.

What you bring to the team
Health Care and Policy Knowledge and Experience:
You have:
• An understanding of how to analyze and develop programs and policies.
• Experience using performance management methods to lead and support the creation, review, and communication of policies, programs, and regulations.
• Familiarity with Ontario's health system, its socio-economic context and how it connects with related organizations.
Financial Knowledge and Experience:
You have:
• Knowledge of budgeting, financial planning, transfer payment management, investment strategies and generally accepted accounting principles.
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:
You can:
• Evaluate risks and impacts of changes on the health system and financial plans, and provide strong, well-informed recommendations.
• Learn and apply government priorities, policies, and legislative processes to ensure alignment with the health care agenda.
Project Management, Negotiation and Facilitation Skills:
You can:
• Lead financial policy and project work using strong negotiation and facilitation skills.
• Collaborate effectively with your team to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues and partners, acting as a trusted advisor.
Communication and Presentation Skills:
You can:
• Prepare and present complex research, policy reports, briefing notes, and cabinet submissions clearly and effectively.
• Promote policy ideas through presentations to health sector partners, community groups, and ministry staff.
• Create clear, well-organized documents that bring together different ideas and perspectives.
